Medieval Floors — Waterproof SPC Vinyl Plank & European White Oak Engineered Hardwood
Medieval Floors builds two distinct product categories under one brand: waterproof SPC vinyl plank flooring (three collections — Marseille, Super SPC, Valletta) and European White Oak engineered hardwood flooring (two collections — Architectural, Nouvelle). The SPC line is built for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and high-traffic family spaces where waterproof performance is required. The engineered hardwood line is built for living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms where the authentic look, feel, and warmth of real wood matters more than waterproof rating. Every Medieval Floors product — across both categories — ships with FloorScore certification for indoor air quality and is backed by a structural warranty. The SPC line ships from the Medieval Floors warehouse in San Leandro, CA (about 35 miles from our Santa Clara showroom). Kapriz Hardwood Floors carries the full Medieval Floors line.
SPC vinyl plank — three collections, one engineering platform
All three SPC collections share a 100% waterproof Stone Polymer Composite core, a pre-attached IXPE anti-microbial acoustic underlayment, Prime Urethane with Ceramic Bead Coating surface protection, and FloorScore + GreenGuard Gold certifications. They differ in thickness, wear layer, plank size, and price.
Valletta Collection — 6.5mm SPC
The accessible tier. 6.5mm SPC core, 7-inch by 48-inch planks, Uniclic glueless floating click. Built for residential rooms when budget and cost-per-square-foot matter most. 5 colors.
Marseille Collection — 8mm SPC
The middle tier. 8mm total thickness with 1.5mm IXPE pad, 9-inch by 60-inch planks, 20-mil commercial wear layer. Medieval’s workhorse line — balanced underfoot feel at an accessible price. 11 colors.
Super SPC Collection — 10mm SPC
The flagship. 10mm total thickness with 2mm IXPE pad, 9-inch by 60-inch planks, premium 30-mil commercial wear layer. Engineered for high-traffic residential and light commercial use. 7 colors.
Engineered hardwood — two collections, real White Oak
Both engineered collections share an 8-layer construction with a 4mm sawn White Oak top veneer, 5/8-inch total thickness, UV Lacquer finish, 4-sided micro-bevel, and Tongue & Groove profile installed glue-down or staple/nail (not floating). They differ in oak species, wood grade, plank dimensions, and surface texture.
Architectural Collection — Character Grade
European White Oak in Character grade — visible knots, mineral streaks, and grain variation. 5/8-inch by 9-inch wide by 75-inch long planks, 4mm sawn top veneer, Light Brushed/Smooth surface. 8 colors. CARB II compliant.
Nouvelle Collection — Prime Grade
French White Oak (with American Oak options) in Prime grade — minimal knots, sapwood, or grain irregularities for a cleaner, more uniform look. 5/8-inch by 8.66-inch wide by 87-inch long planks, 4mm sawn top veneer, Semi-Light Brushed surface. 9 colors. E0 emission rating.
What makes Medieval Floors different
- Two complete product categories under one brand. Most flooring manufacturers specialize in either resilient (SPC, LVT, laminate) or hardwood — not both. Medieval Floors builds both at production quality, which means a whole-home install can mix waterproof SPC in wet areas (kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms) with engineered White Oak in living and bedroom areas while keeping the same brand-level quality control and warranty consistency.
- SPC line — three wear-layer thicknesses across the collections. Valletta and Marseille ship with 20-mil commercial wear layer (handles pet claws and dropped dishes). Super SPC steps up to 30-mil — the threshold where SPC qualifies for light commercial use including restaurants, retail, and multi-family corridors.
- SPC line — Prime Urethane with Ceramic Bead Coating across every collection. Ceramic bead surface protection adds scratch resistance and stain resistance beyond standard urethane finishes. The Valletta collection adds an Extra Anti-Stain Resistance Coating on top — useful in bathrooms, mudrooms, and entryways where staining agents are a concern.
- SPC line — pre-attached IXPE anti-microbial acoustic pad. No second underlayment needed (and adding one voids the warranty). The IXPE pad dampens footfall noise and provides anti-microbial protection. Super SPC ships with a thicker 2mm pad for additional acoustic isolation.
- Engineered hardwood line — 4mm sawn top veneer. 4mm is the threshold where the floor can be sanded and refinished multiple times during its lifespan — the same as solid hardwood. Most engineered hardwood ships with 1mm-2mm rotary-peeled veneers that can’t be refinished and have visible “barber-pole” grain repeats. Medieval’s 4mm sawn veneer reads as real plank-sawn White Oak.
- Engineered hardwood line — 8-layer cross-banded plywood substrate. Multi-layer cross-banded construction (8 layers under the wear veneer) is more dimensionally stable than 3-layer or 5-layer engineered alternatives. Better resistance to seasonal humidity changes and cupping over radiant heat.
- FloorScore certified across the entire brand. Independently verified low-VOC indoor air quality on every product, both SPC and engineered hardwood. The SPC line adds GreenGuard Gold (the stricter VOC limit required for schools and healthcare environments). The engineered hardwood line adds CARB II, Lacey Act, and TSCA Title IV compliance for legal-source wood.
- Long warranties across the line. SPC: Lifetime Limited Residential, with commercial coverage of 5-Year (Valletta), 10-Year (Marseille), or 15-Year (Super SPC). Engineered hardwood: Lifetime Structural, 35-Year Residential Wear, 5-Year Light Commercial.
- San Leandro, CA warehouse for the SPC line. Same-region inventory keeps lead times short — typically 3-7 business days from order to local delivery. Approximately 35 miles from our Santa Clara showroom for cross-checks on dye lots and color matching.
