Super SPC Collection — 10mm SPC Vinyl Plank

The Super SPC Collection is the flagship of the Medieval Floors line — a 10mm SPC vinyl plank engineered for high-traffic residential and light commercial use. Seven colors anchor this collection, all in a 9-inch by 60-inch plank format. The Super SPC steps up the construction in three specific ways over the Marseille Collection: a 30-mil commercial wear layer (versus 20 mil), a thicker 2mm IXPE acoustic pad (versus 1.5mm), and 10mm total thickness for noticeably more substantial underfoot feel.

7 colors in this collection. All Medieval Floors products are 100% waterproof, FloorScore certified, GreenGuard Gold certified, and backed by a Lifetime Limited Residential / 15-Year Limited Commercial warranty.

How this collection compares to the rest of the Medieval Floors line

The Marseille Collection (8mm) and Valletta Collection (6.5mm) both deliver waterproof SPC performance at lower price points. The Super SPC Collection steps up the construction in three specific ways: 10mm total thickness for hardwood-like underfoot density, the highest wear-layer rating in the Medieval Floors line at 30 mil (versus 20 mil on Marseille and Valletta), and a thicker 2mm IXPE acoustic pad (versus 1.5mm on the other two). Choose the Super SPC Collection when those three differences justify the premium — typically in high-traffic kitchens, light commercial spaces, and upper-floor installations where acoustic isolation between floors matters.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 30-mil wear layer mean in practice?
Wear-layer thickness is the protective top coat that handles abrasion, scratches, and stain penetration. 30 mil (0.030 inch) is the commercial-grade threshold — it’s the wear layer thickness that qualifies SPC for use in restaurants, retail spaces, and multi-family corridors. In residential use, 30 mil means the floor handles pet claws, contractor tool drops, dragged appliances during remodels, and decades of normal traffic without the surface graying or wearing through. The Marseille Collection’s 20-mil wear layer is fully adequate for typical residential traffic; 30 mil is the right choice when the floor needs to outlast multiple ownership cycles.
Is the thicker 2mm IXPE pad worth it over the standard 1.5mm?
In multi-level homes, condos, and townhomes — yes. The 2mm pad measurably reduces footfall noise transmitted through the floor and ceiling assembly to the room below. In single-story homes installed directly on a concrete slab, the difference is less audible — the slab itself absorbs most of the impact noise. The 2mm pad also provides marginally better insulation under the plank, useful in basements and over-garage installations where the subfloor temperature is lower than the room above.
Is Super SPC the right choice for a small commercial space?
For light commercial use — yes. The 30-mil wear layer plus the 15-year limited commercial warranty is the threshold that covers small restaurants, retail showrooms, professional offices, and multi-family corridor installations. For heavy commercial use — high-volume retail, hospitality lobbies, healthcare corridors — a glue-down LVT with thicker construction is usually the better engineering choice. We carry both categories at Kapriz; call the showroom at (408) 753-3220 to discuss the specifics of your project.
Are the 10mm planks harder to install than thinner formats?
Roughly the same difficulty. The Uniclic click is identical to the Marseille and Valletta Collections, so the click mechanics aren’t different. Cutting takes slightly more pressure with a plank cutter or jigsaw given the extra thickness. Subfloor flatness requirements are identical — 3/16 inch over 10 feet — but the thicker plank is slightly more forgiving of minor irregularities than thinner SPC because the rigid core has more vertical mass to bridge small dips. Most homeowners can install Super SPC as a DIY project; Kapriz can refer a licensed C-15 contractor if you prefer professional installation.
Can I see the Super SPC Collection in person before ordering?
Yes. Kapriz keeps Super SPC Collection samples on display at the Santa Clara showroom (891 Laurelwood Rd, Suite 101). Call (408) 753-3220 ahead to confirm which specific colors are physically on hand — we don’t permanently stock every color in the Medieval Floors line, and a quick call saves a wasted trip if the color you want needs to be ordered in for review.
