Valletta Collection — 6.5mm SPC Vinyl Plank

The Valletta Collection is the value-priced tier of the Medieval Floors line — a 6.5mm SPC vinyl plank built for residential rooms where budget and cost-per-square-foot matter most. Five colors anchor this collection, all in a 7-inch by 48-inch plank format. Valletta carries Medieval Floors’ Prime Urethane with Ceramic Bead Coating surface plus an Extra Anti-Stain Resistance Coating — a counter-intuitive but useful pairing where the value tier gets additional stain protection that the Marseille and Super SPC Collections don’t have.

5 colors in this collection. All Medieval Floors products are 100% waterproof, FloorScore certified, GreenGuard Gold certified, and backed by a Lifetime Limited Residential / 5-Year Limited Commercial warranty.

How this collection compares to the rest of the Medieval Floors line

The Marseille Collection (8mm) and Super SPC Collection (10mm) deliver thicker planks with more substantial underfoot feel, wider 9-inch by 60-inch plank format, and longer commercial warranty terms. The Valletta Collection trades plank thickness and width for a lower price-per-square-foot — the right choice when the project covers multiple bedrooms, a rental upgrade, or any room where budget is the priority and traffic is moderate. Notably, Valletta is the only Medieval Floors collection that includes the Extra Anti-Stain Resistance Coating on top of the standard Ceramic Bead Coating — useful in situations where staining agents are a frequent concern.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the value collection get the Extra Anti-Stain Resistance Coating?
It’s counter-intuitive but accurate — the Valletta Collection is the only Medieval Floors collection that includes the Extra Anti-Stain Resistance Coating on top of the standard Prime Urethane with Ceramic Bead Coating. The reasoning is that Valletta is positioned for residential rooms where the value-conscious customer is the most likely to be installing in apartments, rentals, or shared housing where staining agents (food spills, pet accidents, household chemicals) are a more frequent concern. The premium tiers — Marseille and Super SPC — assume a more controlled install environment where the stain protection isn’t as critical.
Is 6.5mm thick enough?
For residential use over a flat subfloor — yes. 6.5mm is the value-tier thickness across the SPC industry. The 1.5mm IXPE pad attached to the underside dampens footfall and provides anti-microbial protection. Where 6.5mm matters less is over very uneven subfloors — thinner SPC telegraphs more dips and rises than thicker planks. Subfloor flatness needs to be within 3/16 inch over 10 feet for any Medieval Floors collection; the Valletta Collection in particular benefits from a careful subfloor pre-leveling step on retrofit installs over older concrete or older wood subfloors.
Why are Valletta planks narrower (7-inch vs 9-inch)?
Narrower planks mean more planks per carton — 8 planks per carton in Valletta versus 5 planks per carton in Marseille — which keeps the per-square-foot cost down while providing better dimensional stability across temperature and humidity changes. Narrower planks also work better in smaller rooms (bedrooms, hallways, smaller bathrooms) where wide-format planks would visually shrink the space. For open-concept living areas and great rooms, the 9-inch Marseille or Super SPC plank reads better.
Is Valletta DIY-friendly?
Yes. The Uniclic glueless floating click is the same system used across all three Medieval Floors collections, and the narrower 7-inch plank is easier to maneuver than wider formats. A standard SPC install kit ($150-200) covers the tools needed: tapping block, pull bar, spacers, and a manual plank cutter or jigsaw. Subfloor preparation is the most important step — flatness within 3/16 inch over 10 feet, 6-mil polyethylene moisture barrier over concrete subfloors. If you prefer professional installation, Kapriz can refer a licensed C-15 flooring contractor.
