COREtec Pro Premium — 5.2mm Waterproof SPC with Embossed-in-Register Texture

COREtec Pro Premium is the flagship of the COREtec Pro line — a 5.2mm rigid SPC plank with Embossed-in-Register surface texture that aligns plank-by-plank with the printed wood grain, plus hand-painted enhanced beveled edges that add tonal depth where each plank meets its neighbor. The most realistic surface in the line. Eighteen colors anchor this collection in a 9-inch primary plank format, with 7-inch maple visuals available for tighter scale. Built on the same engineering platform as Classics and Enhanced — pre-attached cork acoustic pad, 20-mil commercial-grade wear layer — but stepped up where surface realism matters most.

18 colors in this collection. All COREtec Pro products are 100% waterproof, GREENGUARD Gold certified, FloorScore certified, and backed by a Limited Lifetime Residential / 15-year Heavy Commercial warranty.

Best for

Premium is the right COREtec Pro tier when the floor is part of the design statement and surface realism justifies the price step:

Master suites Open-plan great rooms Designer kitchens Luxury new construction High-end remodels Whole-home upgrades

How this tier compares to the rest of the COREtec Pro line

Classics and Enhanced both deliver the same waterproof SPC core, the same 20-mil wear layer, and the same warranty at lower price points. Premium steps up the surface in two specific ways: Embossed-in-Register texturing aligns the surface texture with the printed wood grain so every plank reads as having its own distinct grain pattern, and hand-painted enhanced beveled edges add tonal depth where each plank meets its neighbor. Choose Premium when those two differences justify the price step — typically in master bedrooms, great rooms, designer kitchens, and other spaces where the floor is meant to be experienced underfoot rather than just walked on.

Frequently asked questions

What is Embossed-in-Register and why does it matter?
Standard embossed wood-look SPC stamps a uniform wood-grain texture across all planks regardless of what the printed image actually shows underneath. Embossed-in-Register (EIR) is the manufacturing process where the surface texture is precisely aligned with each plank’s specific printed grain — so a knot in the print has matching depth in the surface, a grain channel in the print has matching surface relief. The result reads as real sawn wood at close inspection, not just from a distance. The technology costs more to produce, which is why EIR shows up only in Premium tier within COREtec Pro.
What’s the difference between painted bevels and standard bevels?
Standard beveled edges (like Enhanced tier) cut a small angled groove along each plank edge, but the bevel surface is the same uniform color as the plank face. Hand-painted enhanced bevels in Premium tier add a deliberate tonal contrast — the bevel groove is painted in a darker or differently-toned shade that mimics how real hardwood ages and weathers along its edges. The visual effect: each plank reads as having its own physical depth and outline, not just a uniform stamp on a flat surface. Bring a phone to the showroom and photograph Premium next to Enhanced — the difference shows clearly on screen at standard viewing distance.
When should I pick 9-inch vs 7-inch maple visuals?
9-inch is the primary plank format across most Premium colors — it reads as contemporary and statement-oriented, ideal for open-plan rooms, larger spaces, and modern design where wide planks make a deliberate visual choice. 7-inch maple visuals are available specifically for the maple species colors where the tighter plank scale matches how real maple is traditionally milled. If you’re picking a maple visual, 7-inch reads as more proportional and species-accurate; if you’re picking oak, walnut, hickory, or pine visuals, 9-inch will be the only or primary width option.
Will the painted bevels wear off over time?
No — the painted bevels are sealed under the same 20-mil UV Acrylic wear layer that protects the printed plank face. The paint is applied during manufacturing and locked in by the wear layer cure process, not added as a topcoat that could rub off. The 20-mil wear layer is the same commercial-grade thickness Shaw uses on commercial installs, rated for kitchens, entryways, pet households, and rolling-chair offices. Bevel paint will outlast standard residential traffic and remain visually consistent across the lifetime of the floor.
How much should I order for a 200 sq ft room?
For a 200 sq ft room, order roughly 220 sq ft (10% extra for cuts, waste, and attic stock). Premium 9-inch covers 36.64 sq ft per carton — 7 cartons (256.5 sq ft) is the right round-up for 200 sq ft. Premium 7-inch maple covers 28 sq ft per carton — 8 cartons (224 sq ft) is the right round-up. Always round up to the next full carton. Keep any leftover cartons after install — even reordering the same SKU three months later produces a different manufacturing batch with subtle tone variation. Extras are insurance against future damage from leaks, furniture, or contractor work.
