Is it waterproof?
Yes — 100% waterproof. A splash at the sink or a dropped glass wipes up without harming Essex Maple when cleaned promptly; don't leave water standing. Indoor use only — outdoor installation is not approved.
How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?
The construction includes a 20 mil wear layer — roughly 0.50 mm thick — appropriate for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, providing excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. That's a step above the standard-duty wear layers.
Will it hold up to daily life?
Essex Maple has a 20 mil protective layer — thicker than the roughly 12-mil mid-tier and 6-mil entry-level LVT wear layers. That's the physical protective film above the print, sealed by finish.
What does the plank surface look like?
Each 7-inch plank centers on a large character knot circled by concentric rings, a genuine focal point. Tight ribbon figure and flowing vertical grain frame it, with only subtle marks elsewhere, so the eye goes straight to that knot. Across a floor these statement boards mix with quieter ones for balanced, characterful variation.
Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?
The cork acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Essex Maple is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.
