Quick Answer

What is Fairhaven Oak?

Fairhaven Oak is a rigid, wood-look SPC floor built around a gently caramel-toned warm brown color, with a heavy residential, light-commercial-ready wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Fairhaven Oak handles pet accidents, water-bowl spills, and tracked-in mud wiped up promptly without swelling. Clean up standing water quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Fairhaven Oak has a 20 mil wear layer — measuring about 0.50 mm — a good match for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, so you get excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Fairhaven Oak's 20 mil wear layer and finish resist scratching and scuffing over years of use. It wipes clean with a vinyl-safe cleaner and a damp mop, and keeps the printed grain reading consistent across the floor.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each Fairhaven Oak plank shows arching cathedral figure with fine flecking, a scatter of small pin knots, and faint mineral lines that vary gently from board to board. The wood-look print is protected by a 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer rated for commercial traffic, which is why this floor suits a busy kitchen, and an attached cork underlayment comes pre-bonded to the back of every plank. The overall effect is a clean, lively grain without heavy rustic character.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Fairhaven Oak's factory-attached cork acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Fairhaven Oak carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

A caramel medium brown like Fairhaven Oak is one of the easiest floor colors to live with. It flatters white, sage, navy, and black cabinetry alike, and it hides everyday crumbs and dust better than a very pale or very dark floor. In a sunny room the caramel notes warm up; under cooler light they calm to a soft mid-brown. If you want a floor that works with a changeable kitchen palette, this warm mid-tone gives you the most room to redecorate around it.

Overview

Fairhaven Oak is a warm medium brown with soft caramel undertones (hex #937150), a friendly mid-tone that feels neither too light nor too dark. Flowing cathedral grain arches down each board with fine flecking and only a few pin knots, so the figure is lively but never busy. We photographed it in a bright modern-farmhouse kitchen, where the caramel-brown floor met crisp white cabinetry, a black island, and shiplap walls washed in daylight, exactly the high-traffic, splash-prone room it is built for. Under the wood-look surface is a rigid SPC (stone-polymer composite) core that is fully waterproof, so spills, mopping, and wet feet from the sink are no threat.

A warm caramel-brown floor for a working kitchen: bright cathedral grain on a waterproof core with a 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the kitchen we shot, Fairhaven Oak stretched under a black island and leather barstools, framed by white cabinetry and shiplap with light pouring through many windows. The caramel-brown floor kept the bright room feeling warm rather than clinical, and the cathedral grain gave the wide expanse some movement. Laid across a real open-plan kitchen, it looks even and sunny, with the arching figure adding interest underfoot without fighting the cabinets.
Will it match my cabinets?
Fairhaven Oak is a natural partner for white cabinetry; that was the pairing in our photo, and the warm caramel floor keeps a white kitchen from feeling cold. It is just as comfortable under sage-green, navy, or black lower cabinets, where the mid-brown reads as a warm, steadying note. The one combination to test in person is a near-identical mid-brown cabinet, since a tone-on-tone match can blur; a clear step lighter or darker on the cabinets keeps the floor distinct.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Fairhaven Oak's waterproof core means it is cleared for basements as readily as for a kitchen, and its warm caramel tone is a real asset in a windowless room. Mid-browns like this keep their warmth under artificial light, where a grey or very dark floor can look dull, so a basement kitchenette or rec room stays inviting. Add warm-temperature bulbs and a couple of lamps and the caramel notes read true even with no daylight at all.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Fairhaven Oak and houseplants get along well, since leafy greens and terra-cotta pots both look right at home over a warm caramel brown. The waterproof surface handles the occasional watering spill, but stand planters on a non-staining tray instead of a rubber- or latex-backed mat, which can leave a discolored mark on the floor. A quick wipe of any overflow keeps the surface even and bright.
