Quick Answer

What is Canterbury Elm?

Canterbury Elm is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a golden tan shade, with a heavy residential, light-commercial-ready wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. A splash at the sink or a dropped glass wipes up without harming Canterbury Elm when cleaned promptly; don't leave water standing. Indoor use only — outdoor installation is not approved.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Every plank is finished with a 20 mil wear layer — that's approximately 0.50 mm — built for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, giving you excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It runs noticeably thicker than the entry-level wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Canterbury Elm has a 20 mil protective layer — thicker than the roughly 12-mil mid-tier and 6-mil entry-level LVT wear layers. That's the physical protective film above the print, sealed by finish.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each 9-inch plank shows a lively cathedral grain that arches and flows the length of the board. Sawn cross-grain marks, mineral streaking, and scattered small knots add up to a relaxed, characterful pattern. The wide format lets the arching figure stretch out, so the surface feels open and easygoing.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The cork acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Canterbury Elm is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Canterbury Elm carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Canterbury Elm is made for rooms that embrace color. Its sunny golden tone is a friendly base for bold upholstery, patterned textiles, and plenty of plants, the way the dining nook in our photo layered pink, teal, and lavender on top. It loves daylight, which lifts the honeyed warmth, and it keeps a smaller, lively space feeling bright. In a more restrained scheme it still reads warm and welcoming.

Overview

Canterbury Elm is a bright golden tan with a honeyed, amber glow, a light shade with a cheerful, sociable feel. Lively cathedral grain arches across the boards, marked by sawn cross-grain lines, mineral streaking, and a scatter of small knots. In the dining nook we photographed, it played host to striped upholstery, trailing plants, and a wall of windows without losing its footing among all that color. Each 9-inch plank rests on a 100% waterproof SPC core, sensible under a table where spills happen. Its golden warmth is worth seeing first-hand at our Santa Clara showroom.

A bright golden tan that keeps up with a colorful, playful room.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Through a dining nook, Canterbury Elm reads as a bright, golden floor that keeps a busy, colorful room cheerful rather than chaotic. In our photo it sat beneath patterned armchairs and trailing greenery, with daylight pouring in from a wall of windows. Across a larger space the warm tone and open grain stay sociable and easy to live with.
Will it match my cabinets?
The dining nook we shot kept cabinetry out of frame, but Canterbury Elm is an accommodating partner for it. Its sunny golden tone is happiest with clean white or soft pastel fronts that keep a room feeling light. Deep teal, navy, or forest green make a confident contrast, echoing the bold textiles in the scene. With wood-tone cabinets, choose a clearly different value so the golden floor stays distinct.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
Canterbury Elm relies on its own warmth more than on daylight, so it reads well even in a windowless room as long as the bulbs are warm. In a basement family space the golden tone keeps things from feeling cold or cave-like. The waterproof SPC core is rated for below-grade moisture, making it a practical choice downstairs.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Canterbury Elm and plants are a natural match. The dining nook practically overflowed with trailing greenery, and the golden floor gave every shade of leaf a warm, flattering base. The waterproof surface is unbothered by the occasional watering drip, and a non-staining mat under bigger pots keeps any rubber or latex backing from leaving a mark.
