Quick Answer

What is Bastion Elm?

Bastion Elm is a wood-look SPC floor in a softly shifting warm tan shade, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a low-maintenance, practical space.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Bastion Elm handles pet accidents, water-bowl spills, and tracked-in mud wiped up promptly without swelling. Clean up standing water quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Bastion Elm features a 20 mil wear layer — equal to about 0.50 mm — appropriate for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, delivering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It's a common step-up in wear-layer thickness, where the extra protection starts to matter.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Bastion Elm's 20 mil wear layer and finish resist scratching and scuffing over years of use. It wipes clean with a vinyl-safe cleaner and a damp mop, and keeps the printed grain reading consistent across the floor.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each 9-inch plank shows a flowing cathedral grain with long, arching figure and a few scattered small knots. Fine mineral streaking runs the length of the boards, and occasional sawn cross-grain marks add a touch of rustic character. The wider format reveals more of each board's pattern, so the natural movement is easy to appreciate.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Bastion Elm's factory-attached cork acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Bastion Elm carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Bastion Elm is built to share a room with strong color. Because the tan is light and unsaturated, it calms vivid accents like a teal wall or a yellow chair instead of fighting them. It also works in quieter, all-neutral schemes, where the soft variation adds interest. In a north-facing or cooler room the shade stays warm enough to feel inviting.

Overview

Bastion Elm is a warm tan with gentle board-to-board variation, a light shade that works as a steady backdrop for bolder color. Its flowing cathedral grain arches in long sweeps, traced by fine mineral streaking and a scatter of small knots that give the surface natural movement. In the modern dining area we photographed, the tan floor balanced a deep teal panel wall and a golden-yellow table without competing with either. Each wide 9-inch plank rests on a rigid SPC stone-polymer core that is 100% waterproof, so it suits a busy eating space. Bastion Elm is one to see in person, and our Santa Clara showroom keeps samples on hand.

A warm tan that stays easy beside bold, saturated color.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Laid across a dining area, Bastion Elm reads as a warm, even floor that lets saturated pieces take the lead. In our photo the tan stretched calmly beneath molded charcoal chairs and a golden-yellow table, with the deep teal wall rising above it. Across a wider space the long 9-inch boards keep the eye moving without looking repetitive.
Will it match my cabinets?
Bastion Elm is flexible with cabinetry, even though the dining area we shot kept its storage out of frame. The warm tan pairs naturally with white or cream fronts for a bright look, with deep teal or navy for contrast, and with wood-tone cabinets a shade or two darker for added warmth. Its light value means it rarely clashes, so you have room to be bold above the floor.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
In a room with little daylight, Bastion Elm keeps its warmth and avoids the washed-out look some light floors take on under lamps. The waterproof SPC core suits below-grade rooms, so a finished basement is fair game. Warm-white lighting deepens the tan, while the mineral streaking adds quiet variation that low light can otherwise flatten.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Bastion Elm works well with greenery. The dining area we photographed set a potted succulent on the table, and the tan's soft warmth offset the green cleanly. The floor's waterproof build handles the occasional drip from a watering can, though a non-staining mat under heavier pots is still smart, since latex or rubber backing can discolor the floor over time.
