Quick Answer

What is Mercer Oak?

Mercer Oak is a wood-look SPC floor built around a pale warm beige color, with a heavy residential, light-commercial-ready wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Kitchen reality — dropped pots, splashes, and daily mop-and-go cleaning — won't faze the planks, as long as you wipe spills up promptly and dry any standing water. Not approved for outdoor installation; test the subfloor for moisture before installing.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The plank features a 20 mil wear layer — approximately 0.50 mm — well suited to heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, offering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Dog nails, cat claws, litter grit, water-bowl splash — Mercer Oak's 20 mil wear layer and finish resist the scratches and scuffs a pet household puts on a floor, whereas a thinner LVT wear layer marks more easily.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each 7-inch plank shows a flowing cathedral grain with arching figure, fine quartersawn flecking, and scattered small round knots -- more open and lively than a plain straight-grained board. The wood-look print is protected by a 20 mil wear layer that takes the scrape of dining chairs and the traffic of a gathering, while an attached cork underlayment adds a soft, quiet step beneath the table. The pattern repeats slowly, so a whole floor looks varied and natural.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The cork acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Mercer Oak is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Mercer Oak carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

As a pale, warm beige, Mercer Oak reads soft and welcoming and works with a wide range of looks -- traditional and carved, or clean and contemporary. The creamy undertone keeps the floor from feeling cold under bright daylight, and it flatters warm accents like brass, amber glass, and natural linen. In a formal room it feels refined; in a casual one it feels easy.

Overview

Mercer Oak is a pale, creamy beige with a soft, warm neutrality -- a light floor that feels gracious rather than stark. Where a quiet straight-grained board stays still, this one opens up: a flowing cathedral grain with arching figure, fine quartersawn flecking, and a few small round knots give it real movement to study up close. The printed wood-look surface sits over a rigid stone-polymer core that is fully waterproof, on 7-inch planks. It was made for rooms where people gather: in the dining room we photographed, Mercer Oak sets a warm, traditional table.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Installed, Mercer Oak lays a warm, light foundation under a traditional table setting. In the dining room we photographed, the creamy boards run beneath an ornately carved table and upholstered chairs, with yellow glassware, linen napkins, and full place settings on top; bright daylight keeps the floor glowing and the room feeling open. The pale beige softens the formality of the carved wood-tone furniture, so the space reads elegant but still welcoming.
Will it match my cabinets?
Mercer Oak pairs easily with cabinetry and casework. Its warm, creamy beige sits comfortably beside painted built-ins in white or soft green, and it harmonizes with wood-tone furniture and trim like the carved pieces in its room. Because the floor is light and warm rather than stark, it keeps a dining room or open kitchen feeling cohesive without forcing every wood-tone to match exactly.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
Even away from a window, Mercer Oak keeps its soft, warm glow. The creamy beige reflects light well, so a dim dining nook or a lower-level room stays bright and inviting rather than heavy, and it looks natural under both warm and neutral bulbs. Its waterproof stone-polymer core also means it is rated for below-grade spaces, so the same floor can run from an upstairs dining room down to a basement bar.
