Quick Answer

What is Degas?

Degas is a genuine engineered hardwood floor built around a warm honey-gold color, with a natural hardwood grain for a relaxed, homey feel.

Is it waterproof?

Degas offers real-wood looks with more moisture tolerance than solid hardwood, yet it is not waterproof. Wipe spills promptly, keep indoor humidity in a normal range, and for genuinely wet rooms choose a floor built to be fully waterproof.

Can it be refinished?

How many times it can be refinished comes down to the real-wood veneer on top. With its 4mm layer, this floor can usually take two or three professional refinishes.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the boards show a flowing cathedral figure with long open arches and quiet variation from plank to plank. Small dark knots sit ringed by tight grain, joined by scattered pin fissures and a faint mineral flecking that reads as natural character rather than damage. This is a wire-brushed European Oak surface, so the grain stands in a low relief raked along each board. Nothing repeats, because these are real oak boards and the figure and knot placement differ on every plank.

Will this color work in my room?

Degas reads at its brightest in a room like the photographed one, where side light from many windows lifts the honey-gold and brings the amber undertone forward. In strong midday sun the color feels open and sunny; toward evening, as the light drops, it deepens to a cozier gold. Against warm white walls it stays clean rather than orange, so it pairs easily with soft neutrals and darker wood tones. In a north-facing or lower-lit room the same shade grows more mellow, which works if you want warmth without brightness.

Overview

A soft amber cast runs beneath the honey-gold, so Degas warms and cools slightly as the light moves across it through the day. Its European Oak grain flows in open cathedral arches, with dark knots ringed by tight grain and a scattering of fine mineral flecks that keep every board its own. The surface is wire-brushed, raking a light texture along the grain you can feel underfoot. Because the 4mm wear layer is sawn from real oak, the grain is real timber and varies naturally plank to plank. In the photographed room the floor runs wide and open under side light from a wall of garden windows, set against a stacked-stone fireplace wall. It suits a bright great room or open living space where you want the floor itself to supply the warmth.

A warm honey-gold oak with genuine wire-brushed grain, at its best in a room that catches plenty of daylight.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the photographed living room, Degas runs wall to wall beneath a white sectional and a pair of lounge chairs, with wood console and coffee tables that pick up its warmth. A patterned area rug layers over the top, and sculptural pieces, framed art, and a woven basket fill out a relaxed transitional-modern space. The focal point is a linear gas fireplace set into a stacked-stone wall, with garden windows pouring side light across the boards. Under that much daylight the honey-gold looks bright and even, and the wide oak planks make the open room feel larger.
Will it match my cabinets?
Degas is warm without being red or orange, so it sits comfortably with a wide range of cabinets. In the photographed room it runs against white window trim and warm wood-tone shelving, and the honey-gold works cleanly against both. Crisp white cabinets keep the look bright and let the floor supply the warmth, while natural wood-tone cabinetry a shade or two off the floor reads richer and more layered. For a cooler kitchen, greige or soft sage cabinets balance the golden undertone without fighting it.
