Quick Answer
What is Toulouse?
Toulouse is an engineered hardwood floor in a mellow greige-brown shade, with a natural hardwood grain for a relaxed, homey feel.
Is it waterproof?
Not waterproof — but more forgiving than solid wood. The stable core lets engineered floors live over concrete and below grade where solid can't go, while the wood surface still asks that you clean up spills and keep the room's humidity reasonable.
Can it be refinished?
Two different things: the finish can be refreshed with a light recoat no matter how much veneer is left, while a full sanding is limited by the real wood on top. With a 4mm veneer, this floor can usually take two or three professional refinishes.
What does the plank surface look like?
On the Toulouse planks the grain does the talking: long sweeping lines run the full length of the wide board, fine straight grain traces the edges, and only the occasional small knot breaks the flow. There is very little dark character here, which is the point, since the surface stays smooth and continuous to the eye. The wire-brushed texture gives it grip and a faint relief, and as real oak the grain pattern shifts subtly from one board to the next.
Will this color work in my room?
Toulouse pairs naturally with warm, earthy finishes. Walls in soft sand, warm oatmeal, or muted clay create a cohesive backdrop, while terracotta, olive, and other nature-inspired accents introduce depth without overpowering the floor. Linen, leather, stone, rattan, and matte finishes all complement its understated warmth, creating a layered look that feels comfortable and enduring.
Natural daylight keeps the mid-beige tone open and balanced, while warmer evening light gently deepens the brown undertones, giving the room additional warmth without making it feel noticeably darker. The result is a floor that feels grounded, inviting, and easy to live with through changing light and changing styles.

Overview
Toulouse brings a richer, earthier palette with its muted greige-brown tone, offering more depth than a cool taupe while remaining soft and understated. Its natural warmth makes it an ideal foundation for relaxed interiors built around organic textures, layered neutrals, and timeless materials rather than bold contrast.
Long, flowing grain runs the length of each wide board, naturally varying from plank to plank, with only the occasional small knot and fine straight-grain detail adding quiet character. Toulouse is wire-brushed European Oak engineered hardwood finished with a clear UV lacquer, featuring a 4mm real-wood oak veneer over a stable engineered core. The subtle wire-brushed texture enhances the grain while preserving the authentic character of real European Oak.

Frequently asked questions
How do I estimate how much flooring I need?
Pro tip: Don't shortchange the 10% buffer. If you end up with 3-5 extra cartons, keep them — don't return them. Even if you reorder the same SKU in 3 months, it'll be a different manufacturing batch with slightly different tone and grain. It won't match your existing floor. The extras are insurance against leaks, furniture damage, or cracks down the road.
Do you offer samples I can take home?
What's your return policy?
Always covered at no cost: manufacturing defects, wrong product shipped, delivery damage documented on receipt. Call (408) 753-3220 to report.
Why not returnable by default: reverse freight on a pallet runs $300–800 with damage risk through 6 handoffs — Kapriz carries that exposure.
Rare written exceptions: 25% restocking fee + customer pays freight. Never for opened cartons, custom orders, or discontinued runs.
Pro tip: call (408) 753-3220 to arrange a sample loan before a large order — confirm the color is in the showroom (inventory rotates).
