About Us. Kapriz Hardwood Floors is a company you can trust and depend upon.

Hi there, I’m Sergey Stotskiy, Managing Partner of Kapriz Hardwood Flooring Store. Let me share our journey.
Back in 2001, my wife and I bought our first house while working as QA engineers. Life took a turn when I lost my job, and soon after, my wife did too. Money got tight — we had only three months of mortgage payments saved up.
To distract myself, I visited a pet store and met the most amazing Husky. We couldn’t resist, even though affording her was a stretch. She brought us so much joy — until one day we came home to find she’d wrecked the floors and more. Despite the chaos, we loved her.
Facing the mess, I decided to fix the floors on a budget. I bought materials, taught myself to install laminate flooring, and although the result wasn’t perfect, it worked. That day I committed to perfecting the skill.
I took a job as a flooring installer, learning the trade over the next two years — from product types to installation technique to subfloor prep. Through trials, mistakes, and victories, I mastered the craft. In 2006 I earned my California C-15 Flooring Contractor license (CSLB #875369), which I’ve held continuously ever since.
When I was ready to turn my passion into a career, Kapriz Hardwood Floors was born — established in Santa Clara, California in 2003 and growing ever since.

What we do at Kapriz
Kapriz Hardwood Floors is a flooring retailer in Santa Clara, California. We sell and deliver flooring — hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, laminate, and bamboo — from the showroom and to projects across the Bay Area and nationwide. Sample loans, in-store design consultations, project quoting, and special orders all happen here. Installation is a separate trade; we refer customers to licensed Bay Area pros for that.
Delivery and pickup
We deliver locally across the Bay Area and ship nationwide via LTL freight. In-store pickup at the Santa Clara showroom is always available. Local delivery requires unloading assistance from your end (we drop curbside; you or your contractor handles bringing it inside). Lead times typically run 3–7 business days from our brand partners’ warehouses, with most orders staging through Bay Area distribution centers within 18 miles of our showroom.
Custom and special orders
If we don’t carry exactly what you need on the showroom floor, we can special-order from any of our brand partners — including unusual widths, longer plank lengths, herringbone formats, custom-stained engineered hardwood, and even discontinued or limited-run colors that aren’t in current catalogs. Bring measurements, cabinet samples, or design references to the showroom and we’ll source what fits the project.
Honest about stocking
We don’t permanently stock every color of every brand — the showroom rotates samples as colors get loaned out, and floor inventory shifts seasonally based on what’s being installed across the Bay Area. Before driving over to see a specific color, please call (408) 753-3220 — we’ll confirm what’s physically on hand and arrange a sample loan if needed. A two-minute call saves a wasted trip.
What we carry
The Santa Clara showroom carries over 80 brand-name flooring lines across five categories: solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (SPC and WPC), laminate, and bamboo. Brands include Gaia Floor, COREtec Pro, Monarch Plank Flooring, Paradigm, Mirage, Vellichor, Medieval, GemCore, and others — all selected by hand for build quality, country of origin, and warranty terms before they earn shelf space at Kapriz.
Who we work with
Architects, general contractors, flooring contractors, interior designers, and homeowners. New construction, kitchen and bath remodels, whole-home installs, multi-unit rental properties, and light-commercial projects. Most of our customers come from referrals — they tell their architect, their contractor, their neighbor — and that’s how Kapriz has grown for over twenty years.
Why local matters
Kapriz is owned and operated in Santa Clara County. We know the climate (Bay Area humidity swings between 35% and 75% RH seasonally — flooring choices have to handle that), we know the building stock (older homes with concrete slabs, newer homes with engineered subfloors, condos with HOA acoustic requirements), and we know the contractors and inspectors. When you walk into the showroom with a question, the answer comes from someone who has seen your kind of project before — not from a corporate script.
