Quick Answer

What is Orville?

Orville is a rigid, wood-look SPC floor in a gentle light brown shade, with a heavy residential, light-commercial-ready wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Day-to-day life — a dropped glass, a pet bowl, a tracked-in puddle — wipes up without swelling or delamination when cleaned promptly; standing water should not be left to sit. Outdoor use is not approved.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Orville features a 20 mil wear layer — approximately 0.50 mm — built for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, providing excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Safe cleaners for Orville's 20 mil wear layer: vinyl-safe cleaners, damp microfiber mops, vacuum on hard-floor setting. The finish rules out abrasive scrubbers, bleach, ammonia, and solvent-based cleaners — these dull the wear layer permanently.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each Orville plank shows fine, even grain striping with a soft cathedral figure and a scattering of small character marks, no large knots and no heavy fissures. Laid across a floor, the boards read clean and continuous, with just enough figure in the print to keep them from looking flat. Because the grain is a wood-look print, that fine striping stays crisp and consistent across the narrow boards.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Orville's factory-attached 1.5mm IXPE anti-microbial acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Will this color work in my room?

Because Orville is genuinely warm, it behaves like a soft brown that shifts gently under changing light. In the low, ambient evening light of the room we shot, with no direct window sun, it turns rich and cozy, the greige warming toward caramel. In brighter daylight it lifts a little and shows more of its greige side, but it always keeps its warm, brown-leaning character. That warmth makes it an easy floor to live with in the evenings.

Overview

Orville sits at the warm, brown-leaning edge of the greige family, a gentle light brown with a muted greige warmth that reads like a soft taupe-brown. The grain is quiet and modern: a straight, fine, even striping with a subtle cathedral figure and just a few small character marks, nothing rustic or busy. We photographed Orville in a contemporary lounge with cream curved sectionals, a fireplace, and a statement tree, lit softly in the evening. That warm, low light is where the color comes alive, glowing a little and making the room feel calm and intimate. Orville is a wood-look floor, so its fine striping prints evenly across every narrow plank. It suits modern living rooms and lounges where you want warmth and a soft, understated floor.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In our photo, Orville runs through a contemporary lounge beneath cream curved sectionals, framed by a fireplace with a firewood niche, a tall statement tree, and a scatter of throw pillows. Under the soft evening light the warm light-brown floor glows against the cream seating and a dark stone accent wall, making the whole room feel intimate and calm. Its fine striping and narrow boards keep a modern lounge looking soft and uncluttered from wall to wall.
Will it match my cabinets?
Orville is a warm light brown with a greige softness, so it flatters both light and dark cabinets. Crisp white cabinetry, like the run in our photo, keeps a room airy and lets the floor bring the warmth; dark stone, charcoal, or deep green cabinets look modern and grounded above it. Because Orville leans brown, keep wood-tone cabinets a clear step darker or cooler so they don't melt into the floor.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
Orville is a natural fit for low-light rooms; the photo itself was shot in soft evening light with no direct sun, and the color stays warm and rich rather than dim. In a basement or windowless den it reads cozy and brown, keeping its warmth where a cooler tone might feel flat. Lean on warm-white bulbs to hold that glow; brighter cool light will show a little more of its greige side.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Orville and plants are a warm, natural match. The soft brown tone makes fresh greenery pop more than a cooler tone would, and the wood-look surface shrugs off the odd splash from a watering can. Just tuck a felt or non-staining pad under heavier pots so nothing scratches or marks the finish.
