Quick Answer

What is Alsace?

Alsace is a wood-look SPC floor in a warm greige-brown shade, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a low-maintenance, practical space.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Everyday spills, pet accidents, and mop water won't swell, warp, or delaminate the planks when wiped up promptly; standing water should still be cleaned up quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation; test the subfloor for moisture before installing.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Alsace is protected by a 20 mil wear layer — which works out to 0.50 mm — built for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, with excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. A common step-up point where the extra thickness starts to matter.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Alsace's 20 mil wear layer and finish are rated for pet claws, chair legs, dragged furniture, and heavy daily traffic — the scratch resistance that matters in kitchens, entryways, and pet households where foot and paw traffic concentrates.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each Alsace plank shows a sweeping cathedral figure with arched crowns, dark mineral streaks, and the odd small knot near the ends. Laid out across a floor, the bold figure gives noticeable variation from board to board rather than a quiet, repeating pattern. Because the grain is a wood-look print, that swirling character stays crisp and consistent underfoot.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Alsace's factory-attached 1.5mm IXPE anti-microbial acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Will this color work in my room?

Because Alsace is warm and mid-toned, it reads steady and inviting rather than stark. In the soft, diffuse light of the bathroom we photographed, with no direct window sun, the taupe-greige stays even and muted, never washing out to grey or going flat. Under warmer bulbs the brown side comes forward, and under cooler light the greige reads a touch more neutral, but Alsace stays warm either way.

Overview

Alsace is a warm greige-brown with soft taupe undertones, which puts it at the cozy, brown-leaning end of the grey family rather than anywhere near a cold concrete grey. The boards show a bold, sweeping cathedral figure shot through with dark mineral streaks and the occasional small knot, so there is real board-to-board movement instead of a flat, uniform look. We photographed Alsace in a transitional spa bathroom, running beneath a glass walk-in shower and a low bench with a braided jute rug for softness. That setting shows its strong suit: Alsace is a wood-look print over a dense stone-polymer core, so it takes the splashes and steam of a bathroom in stride while still reading as warm, characterful boards underfoot. It suits bathrooms, mudrooms, and busy family rooms where you want warmth on the floor and a surface that resists daily wear.

A warm, taupe-touched greige built for the splashes and steam of a real bathroom.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In our photo, Alsace runs through a transitional spa bathroom, under a glass walk-in shower and a low bench, softened by a braided jute rug and a small pink knit pillow. The warm greige-brown keeps the room feeling relaxed rather than clinical, balancing the cool glass and the slate-grey shower curb. Laid wall to wall, its swirling grain brings the warmth of natural-looking boards to a wet space where you would normally hesitate to use them.
Will it match my cabinets?
Alsace is a warm, mid-toned greige-brown, so it partners easily with both painted and wood-tone cabinets. White, cream, and soft grey vanities keep a bathroom bright and let the floor add the warmth; deeper colors like navy, charcoal, or forest green sit comfortably over it too. If you want warm wood-tone cabinetry, pick a shade clearly darker or redder than the floor so the two layers stay distinct.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Alsace does well in rooms with little or no natural light, which is exactly the light it was photographed in, a windowless bathroom lit softly and evenly. The warm greige-brown keeps its depth in that kind of light instead of graying out, so a basement bath or an interior powder room still feels warm underfoot. Pair it with warm-toned bulbs to bring out the taupe and brown; cooler bulbs will read it slightly more neutral.
