Quick Answer

What is Melun?

Melun is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a soft cream-blonde beige shade, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. The stone-polymer core stands up to everyday surface water — spills, mop water, pet accidents — without swelling or delaminating when wiped up promptly. It won't substitute for fixing a standing leak; dry the floor and the source quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation; keep the subfloor dry before and during install.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The top of Melun carries a 20 mil wear layer — that's approximately 0.50 mm — ideal for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, delivering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. Noticeably thicker than the everyday layers below it.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Minor scratches on Melun stay low-visibility — faint surface marks rather than the bright white scuff lines a glossy floor shows. The 20 mil wear layer hides minor wear within the printed grain pattern — low visibility, not just high durability.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the Melun plank is about as quiet as a wood-look print gets. The grain runs mostly straight, with only barely-there figure and a few even striations drifting down the board. Fine mineral flecks are scattered here and there for a little natural realism, but there are no knots and no heavy character marks, so the boards look highly uniform side by side. That evenness is the point: laid across a floor, the planks blend into a smooth, even expanse rather than drawing attention to any single board.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The 1.5mm IXPE anti-microbial acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Melun is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the soft, diffused daylight in this room, Melun's cream-blonde beige stays warm and even, without the yellow flash some beiges throw in strong sun. That balance is what makes it flexible: it is warm enough to sit happily beside deep-brown wood-tone accents, yet light and neutral enough to let a cool color like sage green read clean against it. In a north-facing or lower-lit room Melun deepens slightly toward a soft sand; in bright daytime light it lifts and reads almost blonde. Pair it with soft whites and natural textures to keep the whole room easy and light.

Overview

Melun reads as a pale cream-blonde beige, warm enough to feel soft and light enough to lift a room without going stark. Its surface stays deliberately quiet, with barely any figure to pull the eye, so the color itself does the work. In the photographed living room Melun sits under soft diffused daylight and hands the spotlight to a curved sofa, sage-green armchairs, and a round marble table, while deep-brown trim warms the edges. It is a warm-neutral base built for a minimalist space, where you want the floor settled and the furnishings out in front.

A pale cream-blonde beige that sets a warm, quiet base and lets sage and deep wood tones lead.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the room we photographed, Melun runs under a modern minimalist setup: a curved sofa, a pair of sage-green armchairs, and a round marble coffee table, with a few books and some greenery keeping it lived-in. The pale cream-blonde floor reads as a soft, warm ground for all of it, letting the sage and the white marble stand out while deep-brown trim ties back to the floor's warmth. Against soft white walls in daytime light, the overall effect is relaxed and modern, with Melun present but never competing with the furniture.
Will it match my cabinets?
This is an easy floor to match cabinets to. Melun's warm cream-blonde beige sits lighter than most cabinetry, so it gives you contrast without clash. With the deep-brown wood-tone trim in this room it is a natural fit: a light warm floor beneath deeper dark-wood cabinetry is a classic pairing that reads intentional. It also works under crisp white or soft grey cabinets, where the floor adds a touch of warmth, and it will not fight painted sage or muted greens. About the only combination to watch is a very cool, ashy-grey cabinet, which can leave the warm floor looking slightly out of step.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
Melun holds up better than most light beiges in a windowless basement. Because it has real warmth rather than a cool grey base, it will not turn flat or dingy under artificial light the way a cooler pale floor can. With no daylight it reads a touch deeper, closer to a soft sand than a blonde, but it stays warm and inviting. Use warm-white bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range rather than cool blue-white ones to keep that warmth, and Melun will still feel bright in a low-ceilinged space.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Yes, Melun makes a good backdrop for indoor plants, and there is a bit of greenery in the photographed room to show it. The warm cream-blonde tone makes green foliage pop without the color contest you would get on a busy, knotty floor, and the quiet grain keeps the eye on the plants rather than the boards. One practical note from the care guidance: set potted plants on a saucer or a felt- or natural-backed mat rather than straight on the floor, and skip rubber- or plastic-backed trays, which can discolor the surface over time. Wipe up any watering spills promptly and the floor will stay easy to live with.
