Boen Hardwood Flooring — European Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Boen builds engineered hardwood flooring in Norway, part of the Bauwerk Group, and every plank runs a real oak or Canadian maple veneer over a 3-layer (or, in the Prestige line, 2-layer) engineered core rather than a printed surface. Kapriz carries six Boen collections spanning wide-format Chaletino boards down to the compact Prestige strip, in 36 colors total, with top veneers from 3.5mm to 4.5mm and a 25-Year Residential Warranty backing every one. The line is FSC-certified (controlled sources), Nordic Swan Ecolabel and eco-INSTITUT Label certified, and carries FloorScore, EPD, and FDES environmental declarations. Boen is available to order through our Santa Clara showroom, where you can see a real sample before you commit.
The Boen collections

Live Pure Plank 8-1/4 — 9/16″ Engineered
A wide 8-1/4″ plank with a 3.5mm oak veneer, T&G construction (floating, glue-down, or nail-down), and 11 colors across the beige-to-brown range.
Live Matte Plank 5-7/16 — 9/16″ Engineered
Boen’s only 5G® Click plank in this catalog — a true floating-or-glue-down floor with a low-sheen Live Matt finish, in 5 colors.
Norwegian Heritage — 9/16″ Engineered
A 5-1/2″ plank format, T&G construction, in 4 colors that run from pale beige to the line’s darkest, Oak Brazilian Brown.
Live Pure Plank 5-7/16 — 9/16″ Engineered
A narrower Live Pure format at 5-1/2″ wide, T&G construction, in 3 colors including the collection’s smoked-oak option.
Prestige — 3/8″ Engineered
Boen’s thinnest, 2-layer construction in a compact 2-3/4″ strip format, T&G square-edged, glue-down only, in 2 colors.
What makes Boen different
- Real oak or Canadian maple veneer, not a printed layer. Every Boen board carries genuine wood on top, so color and grain vary naturally from plank to plank instead of repeating on a cycle.
- 3.5–4.5mm top veneers. A thicker veneer than many mass-market engineered lines, giving a professional room to sand and refinish the floor down the road rather than treating it as disposable.
- FSC, Nordic Swan, and eco-INSTITUT certified. Third-party environmental certification on wood sourcing and material emissions, on top of FloorScore, EPD, and FDES declarations.
- 25-Year Residential Warranty on every collection. The same warranty term applies whether you choose the widest Chaletino board or the compact Prestige strip.
- Rated for underfloor radiant heat. Approved up to 60 W/m² with a 27–29°C surface-temperature limit, subject to the manufacturer’s installation requirements.
- Multiple installation methods across the line. T&G glue-down, T&G floating with glued joints or nail-down, and true 5G® Click floating (Live Matte Plank) — the right method depends on the collection, so confirm which applies before you order underlayment.
Best uses for Boen flooring
- Whole-home installs — a consistent 25-Year Residential Warranty and real-wood veneer across every collection make Boen a straightforward pick for an open-plan main level.
- Rooms with underfloor radiant heat — the line’s 60 W/m² rating covers a typical residential radiant setup, subject to Boen’s own installation requirements.
- Above- and on-grade rooms with normal humidity — the engineered core handles seasonal humidity swings better than solid wood, within Boen’s stated moisture and climate limits.
- Buyers who want a specific format — from Chaletino’s wide 11-13/16″ board down to Prestige’s narrow 2-3/4″ strip, the collections cover a real range of room scales and design intents.
Choosing the right Boen floor
Start with format: a wider Chaletino or Live Pure Plank 8-1/4 board reads calmer with fewer seams in a large room, while Norwegian Heritage’s or Live Pure Plank 5-7/16’s narrower plank suits a more traditional look. Within a collection, a paler color keeps a room feeling open under limited daylight; a darker option like Oak Brazilian Brown reads richer under strong light. Because every board is real wood, color and grain shift slightly from batch to batch — see a physical sample under your own lighting at our Santa Clara showroom, and our team can cross-check dye lots before your order ships.
