Quick Answer

What is Blended Umber?

Blended Umber is a wood-look WPC floor built around a rich espresso brown color, with a durable, heavy-traffic wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. A splash at the sink or a dropped glass wipes up without harming Blended Umber when cleaned promptly; don't leave water standing. Indoor use only — outdoor installation is not approved.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The plank features a 20 mil wear layer — roughly 0.51 mm thick — recommended for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, offering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Blended Umber has a 20 mil protective layer — thicker than the thin wear layers on entry-level LVT. That's the physical protective film above the print, sealed by finish.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, each Blended Umber plank shows a flowing cathedral grain: open arches sweep down the middle of the board and soften into a quieter figure at the edges. Small knots scatter across the surface at a moderate density, and long mineral streaks run the length of the grain, breaking up the dark field so it never looks like a solid slab. The pattern shifts from one board to the next, so a finished floor shows genuine variation instead of one plank repeating.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The attached acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Blended Umber is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Blended Umber carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the bright afternoon daylight this room gets from its bank of windows, Blended Umber stays deep without going cave-dark: the light picks out the charcoal in the brown and keeps the surface legible rather than flat black. In a lower-lit or north-facing room the same espresso tone reads deeper and moodier, which is why it pairs well with cool grays, off-white, and cobalt or black accents that keep the contrast crisp. Morning light warms Blended Umber slightly, and by afternoon it reads as a cooler, graphite-leaning brown.

Overview

Blended Umber reads as a deep espresso brown pulled a shade cooler by a charcoal undertone, so it stays graphite-leaning instead of turning red or orange the way a warm brown can. The print runs a flowing cathedral grain, with long open arches down the center of each board that ease into a gentler figure toward the edges, and no two boards repeat: there is real board-to-board variation, small scattered knots, and long mineral streaks tracing the grain. It is a floor with visual weight, and in the loft-style living room it was photographed in, Blended Umber sets a bold, moody base under bright afternoon daylight.

A deep espresso brown with a cool charcoal edge, cathedral arches and mineral streaks give Blended Umber real depth underfoot.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the photographed room, Blended Umber runs wall to wall under a modern industrial setup: a cobalt-blue sofa and matching ottoman, a wire-frame lounge chair, and a floor lamp against raw concrete walls and grid factory windows. The dark espresso floor gives all that cool blue and bare concrete something solid to sit on, and the black cushion, zebra-print pillow, and framed art read cleanly against it. It is a true loft look, and the deep brown of Blended Umber keeps an industrial room from feeling cold.
Will it match my cabinets?
Blended Umber works with most cabinet styles — shaker fronts (white, light grey, painted), slab-front oak, walnut, and warm-painted finishes. The rich espresso brown in cool, charcoal-shaded depth is calibrated to read moody alongside both natural-wood and painted cabinetry.

Watch for: very high-contrast pairings (stark white + black accents) can flatten the dark brown tone. Showroom note: we keep ~10 cabinet finishes on display to match against this floor.

Best way to confirm a match: take a Blended Umber sample home and lay it against your actual cabinets under your own kitchen lighting — that's the truest read, and far easier than pulling a cabinet door off its hinges. Prefer the showroom? Bring a cabinet door sample or paint card and we'll compare it against Blended Umber under real lighting. Don't have cabinets yet? We carry Boxy Cabinetry on-site (framed, frameless, regular shaker, slim shaker, flat panel — 11 finishes from Ivory White to Black Walnut) — use Boxy door samples to dial in your cabinet + flooring combination in one showroom visit.

How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Because Blended Umber is 100% waterproof against topical moisture, it suits a damp-prone lower level, but keep in mind that a dark floor reads even deeper in low light, closer to near-black in a windowless basement than it looks in the sunlit room shown here. If you run Blended Umber below grade, lean on plenty of layered lighting and keep walls and furniture lighter so the space stays open; the charcoal-brown tone takes warm and cool bulbs equally well.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
The room was styled with a single statement plant, and that is a good instinct on a floor this dark: the deep espresso of Blended Umber makes green foliage pop, and its cool charcoal undertone plays well with matte terracotta as well as black or concrete planters. One large plant reads better here than a scatter of small pots, since the dark floor gives it a clean stage.
