Each board is a printed wood-look surface over a rigid stone-polymer core, topped with a 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer and a pre-attached 1.5mm IXPE acoustic pad. Durability on SPC comes mostly from the wear layer and core, not the overall gauge — Gemstone carries the same 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer and rigid waterproof stone core as the thicker collections. The 6.5mm build simply sits a little lower underfoot, which makes it a strong value for budget-aware rooms.

Is Gemstone waterproof enough for a bathroom?

Yes — the SPC core is 100% waterproof and will not swell or warp from splashes, humidity, or mop water. Wipe up standing water promptly and follow standard perimeter sealing for full bathrooms.

How many boxes of Gemstone do I need?

Each carton covers 26.18 sq ft. Divide your room’s square footage by 26.18 and add roughly 10% for cuts and waste. Our showroom team can confirm the exact carton count for your layout.

Can I install Gemstone myself?

Yes — it uses a glueless click-lock floating system that a confident DIYer can install with a tapping block over a flat, prepared subfloor. Leave a 5/16 in (8.2 mm) expansion gap at the walls and let the planks acclimate before installation.

Do I need a separate underlayment?

No — a 1.5mm IXPE acoustic pad is factory-attached to every plank, so there is no separate underlayment to buy or roll out. Adding a second pad underneath can compromise the locking system, so it is not recommended.
