COREtec Pro Enhanced — 5.2mm Waterproof SPC Vinyl Plank

COREtec Pro Enhanced is the middle tier of the COREtec Pro line — a 5.2mm rigid SPC plank with enhanced beveled edges that give each plank distinct definition for a more realistic hardwood appearance. Built on the same engineering platform as Classics and Premium: pre-attached cork acoustic pad and a 20-mil commercial-grade wear layer. Twenty colors anchor this collection, available in both 7-inch and 9-inch plank widths to match different room scales. The wider color palette and beveled-edge realism make Enhanced the right choice when surface character matters but Premium’s Embossed-in-Register texture isn’t worth the price step.

20 colors in this collection. All COREtec Pro products are 100% waterproof, GREENGUARD Gold certified, FloorScore certified, and backed by a Limited Lifetime Residential / 15-year Heavy Commercial warranty.

How this tier compares to the rest of the COREtec Pro line

Classics keeps the same wear layer and warranty at a smooth-embossed surface in 7-inch planks at the entry price. Premium goes the other direction — same 5.2mm core but adds Embossed-in-Register surface texture that follows the printed grain exactly plus hand-painted enhanced bevels. Enhanced is the middle path: the beveled edges give it stronger plank-to-plank definition than Classics, and the wider color range opens up more palette choices, while skipping the EIR surface technology that drives Premium’s price up. Choose Enhanced when you want a more deliberate hardwood look than smooth-embossed Classics but the surface micro-texture of Premium isn’t a priority.

Frequently asked questions

What does “enhanced beveled edges” actually mean?
A beveled edge is a small angled cut along each plank edge — instead of two planks meeting flush, there’s a subtle V-groove between them. “Enhanced” beveled edges in COREtec Pro Enhanced means the bevel is more defined than the micro-bevels on entry SPC, so each plank reads as visually distinct from its neighbors. The effect is closer to real hardwood, where every board has its own outline. The trade-off versus Premium: Enhanced’s bevels are uniform-color (not hand-painted), so the contrast between plank face and bevel is less pronounced than Premium’s painted bevels.
When should I pick 7-inch vs 9-inch planks?
9-inch planks read as more contemporary and statement-oriented — they suit open-plan rooms, larger spaces, and modern design. 7-inch planks read as more classic and proportional in smaller rooms, hallways, and traditional layouts. Building code and subfloor flatness become slightly more demanding for wider planks (Shaw spec calls for 3/16-inch over 10 feet flatness; 9-inch installs are less forgiving than 7-inch on a slightly wavy subfloor). For most rooms either width works — the choice is aesthetic, not technical.
Will dirt collect in the beveled edges?
Less than you’d expect. The bevels are intentionally narrow and shallow — wide enough to define each plank visually, narrow enough that a regular sweep or vacuum picks up dust without trapping it. For deeper cleaning, a soft-bristle brush attachment along the bevel grooves once a month handles any settled dirt. The pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner Shaw recommends won’t pool in the bevels because it dries quickly. The dirt-trap concern applies more to wide gapping or hand-scraped textures, not bevel grooves on COREtec Pro.
Can Enhanced go in a kitchen?
Yes — every COREtec Pro tier including Enhanced is rated for kitchens, bathrooms, and other wet areas. The 100% waterproof SPC core means standing water from spills, dishwasher leaks, or pet accidents won’t damage the plank. The 20-mil wear layer handles dropped pots, dragged stools, and daily mop cleaning. For best results in a kitchen install, leave the standard 1/4-inch expansion gap at all walls and cabinet bases, and use silicone caulk (not solid filler) at the dishwasher and refrigerator drip pans so any future leaks can drain rather than pool under the plank.
How much should I order for a 200 sq ft room?
For a 200 sq ft room, order roughly 220 sq ft (10% extra for cuts, waste, and attic stock). Enhanced cartons cover 28-37 sq ft depending on whether you pick 7-inch or 9-inch planks — call us at (408) 753-3220 with the specific SKU and we’ll confirm the exact carton coverage. Always round up to the next full carton. Keep any leftover cartons after install — even reordering the same SKU three months later will produce a different manufacturing batch with subtle tone variation. Extras are insurance against future damage.
