Quick Answer

What is Madrid Oak?

Madrid Oak is a wood-look SPC floor in a cool greyed brown tone, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Madrid Oak handles pet accidents, water-bowl spills, and tracked-in mud wiped up promptly without swelling. Clean up standing water quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The plank features a 20 mil wear layer — measuring about 0.50 mm — ideal for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, offering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It's a common step-up in wear-layer thickness, where the extra protection starts to matter.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Madrid Oak's 20 mil wear layer and finish resist scratching and scuffing over years of use. It wipes clean with a vinyl-safe cleaner and a damp mop, and keeps the printed grain reading consistent across the floor.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each 9-inch plank wears an openly rustic grain. Deep splits and checks travel the length of the boards, scattered dark knots punctuate the figure, and weathered marks complete a salvaged, lived-in look. The wide format shows that character clearly, so a finished floor feels rich with character and genuinely lived-in.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Madrid Oak's factory-attached cork acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Madrid Oak carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Madrid Oak works where you want a warm floor with a cool edge. Its greyed brown sits comfortably under bold, saturated accents, the bright blue chairs in our photo being a good example, and it suits modern and transitional rooms alike. The rustic splits and knots add character without color, so the floor stays calm beneath lively furniture. In cooler light the grey steps forward, while warmer light brings back a little brown.

Overview

Madrid Oak is a soft light brown with a cool, greyed taupe cast, a light shade with a rustic streak. Deep splits and checks run the length of the boards, joined by scattered dark knots and weathered character marks for a salvaged, well-worn look. In the contemporary lounge we photographed, its cool-leaning brown made a calm stage for a pair of vivid blue armchairs under even overhead light. Each wide 9-inch plank rests on a 100% waterproof SPC core with a 20 mil wear layer, dependable in a shared lounge. Bring a fabric swatch to our Santa Clara showroom and we will match the greyed tone for you.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Across a lounge, Madrid Oak reads as a cool, soft-brown floor with rustic character that stays calm beneath strong color. In the contemporary room we photographed, the greyed brown made a steady base for two vivid blue armchairs under even, shadow-free light. Over a larger floor the splits and knots give plenty to look at while the cool tone keeps the space modern.
Will it match my cabinets?
The lounge we shot left cabinetry out of frame, but Madrid Oak is an obliging match for it. Its cool, greyed brown pairs cleanly with white, grey, and even black fronts for a modern look, and with deep blue or green for confident contrast. Warm wood-tone cabinets can balance the grey if you want to add warmth back. Because the floor leans neutral and cool, it rarely fights a cabinet color.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
Madrid Oak reads well in low light, where its cool, greyed brown looks crisp and contemporary rather than washed out. Under even artificial light, as in our photo, the tone stays consistent, which suits a windowless lounge or basement. The waterproof SPC core is rated for below-grade moisture, so downstairs is well within its range; warm bulbs will bring a little brown back if the grey reads too cool.
