Quick Answer

What is Platinum?

Platinum is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a multi-tone, with a durable, heavy-traffic wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Kitchen reality — dropped pots, splashes, and daily mop-and-go cleaning — won't faze the planks, as long as you wipe spills up promptly and dry any standing water. Not approved for outdoor installation; test the subfloor for moisture before installing.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The construction includes a 20 mil wear layer — equal to about 0.51 mm — well suited to heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, with excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Dog nails, cat claws, litter grit, water-bowl splash — Platinum's 20 mil wear layer and finish wipe clean easily and outlast a thinner LVT wear layer under everyday pet traffic. Claws can still leave light surface marks over time like on any hard floor, so trimmed nails and a rug in high-traffic zones help protect the finish.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the plank surface is all character grade: heavy dark knots close to the size of a coin, several with cracked centers and fissures radiating out into the grain. Open cathedral arches sweep the length of each board and pronounced mineral streaking traces along them, with strong variation from one plank to the next. It is a printed wood-look surface, so the knot detail repeats cleanly across a run without any two lengths looking stamped from the same die.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The 1.5mm Bioguardian anti-bacterial EVA acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Platinum is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

Under soft, even daylight with no direct sun, Platinum's warm brown deepens and the taupe undertone keeps it from tipping orange or red. In a low-light or north-facing room the color reads richer and more enveloping, while a brighter space lifts the taupe and shows more of the mineral streaking. Either way it stays a warm, refined neutral rather than a loud statement.

Overview

Despite the cool name, Platinum reads as a deep, warm brown with muted taupe running underneath -- a medium tone that keeps real depth. Open cathedral grain sweeps down each plank, broken by heavy dark knots with cracked centers and radiating fissures, so no two boards repeat. In a minimalist Scandinavian living room that rustic knot character gives a pared-back, cream-and-white space warmth and texture without turning busy.

Rustic knot character with a calm, refined read -- Platinum brings texture to a minimalist room without the noise.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Installed, Platinum runs under a white modular sofa in a minimalist Scandinavian living room, with floor lamps, a marble ledge, and a wood-panel feature wall setting the scene. The cream-and-beige furniture and matte-white walls stay quiet, so the floor's warm brown and knotty grain become the texture in the room. Small touches -- throw pillows, a few books, a vase of dried stems -- keep it calm and lived-in rather than staged.
Will it match my cabinets?
Platinum's warm brown with a taupe undertone pairs easily with cabinetry across the range. Crisp white or cream cabinets keep the look light and let the floor's knot character lead, while a warm wood-tone or soft greige cabinet echoes the taupe for a cozier, tonal feel. Because the brown leans warm rather than red, it also suits matte black or deep green without clashing.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
In a windowless basement or a room that runs mostly on lamplight, Platinum reads deeper and warmer, the taupe undertone keeping it from going flat or muddy. Its medium tone means it does not disappear the way a very dark floor can in low light, and the mineral streaking still shows enough figure to keep the surface interesting. Layer in a floor lamp or two and the warm brown stays inviting rather than heavy.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Platinum works well with greenery. A single statement plant -- the kind of tall, sculptural piece a minimalist room favors -- stands out against the warm brown, and the taupe undertone flatters green foliage rather than fighting it. One well-placed plant is plenty here, since the floor's own knot character already gives the room plenty of texture.
