The Metropolitan Collection is Vellichor Floors’ wide-board European Oak line, built for large, open interiors where the floor becomes the room’s quiet backdrop. Each plank is a full 3/4″ thick engineered board — a 4mm real-wood European Oak veneer bonded over a cross-layered engineered core for dimensional stability — finished with a clear UV lacquer and a wire-brushed surface that catches light softly. Its signature is scale: 9.5″ wide by 87″ long boards that lay out with fewer seams and a calm, expansive grain flow. Four warm-neutral colorways run from one light beige to three medium beiges, so the whole collection reads as a single, cohesive palette rather than a spread of competing tones. The four Metropolitan colorways — Lille, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse — sit close together in a warm, neutral beige family, so any of them reads as a soft, light-to-medium foundation rather than a statement floor. Lille is the lightest, a pale beige that brightens rooms and expands a space visually, while Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse step into medium-beige territory with a little more warmth and depth for grounding a large open plan. Is Metropolitan flooring waterproof?

No. Metropolitan is water-resistant but not waterproof, like all real-wood engineered flooring. It handles everyday spills and humidity when wiped up promptly, but it should not be installed in wet areas or left standing in water. For kitchens and entries, clean up spills quickly and use mats at water sources.

Can Metropolitan floors be refinished?

Yes. The 4mm real European Oak veneer is thick enough to be sanded and refinished roughly 2–3 times over the floor’s life, so scratches and wear can be renewed rather than replaced. That refinish capacity, backed by the 25-Year Residential Finish warranty, is a key advantage over thinner-veneer engineered floors and vinyl look-alikes.

How is Metropolitan installed?

Metropolitan uses a Tongue & Groove joint and can be nailed, glued, or floated, giving your installer flexibility across subfloor types. Because it is engineered with a cross-layered core, it is approved for above-grade, on-grade, and below-grade installations, including basements. A moisture test and the appropriate subfloor prep or barrier are recommended, especially over concrete.

How many cartons do I need?

Each carton covers 28.42 sq ft. Divide your room’s square footage by 28.42 and add about 7–10% for cutting waste and future repairs — the wider your board layout and the more angles in the room, the closer to 10% you should plan.
