Artist Collection — 3/4″ Engineered European Oak (Vellichor Floors)

The Artist Collection is Vellichor Floors’ most expressive engineered European Oak line — four painter-named colors (Degas, Lepage, Morisot, and Pissarro) chosen for character rather than uniformity. Each plank is 3/4″ thick, built from a 4mm real-wood European Oak veneer bonded to a cross-layered engineered core for dimensional stability, then finished with a clear UV lacquer over a wire-brushed surface that lifts the grain. Boards run a generous 7.5″ wide by 75″ long with a Tongue & Groove profile, and where the plainer Vellichor lines stay quiet, Artist leans into figure: burl, knots, and mineral streak read across the floor. It is water-resistant (not waterproof), refinishable two to three times thanks to the 4mm veneer, and carries a Limited Lifetime Structural warranty with a strong environmental certification stack. Available to order through our Santa Clara showroom.

Colors in the Artist Collection

The four Artist colors sit in the warm, characterful part of Vellichor’s range. One reads as a honey/golden oak with real depth, one as a light beige that keeps rooms bright and open, and two land in the medium-beige middle — versatile tones that pair with both cool and warm cabinetry. What sets Artist apart from the plainer collections is the grain: expect more figured movement across the boards, with burl, knots, and mineral streak showing through the clear lacquer rather than being sanded flat. If you want a floor with visible personality and hand-crafted character, this is the line to look at; if you prefer a calmer, more uniform look, the quieter Vellichor collections may suit you better.

Best uses for the Artist Collection

  • Whole-home main living areas — the 7.5″ × 75″ planks and expressive grain make a statement across open-plan living, dining, and hallways.
  • Rooms wanting warmth and character — the honey and beige tones plus visible knots and streak give spaces a hand-crafted, lived-in feel.
  • Above, on, or below grade — the cross-layered engineered core stays dimensionally stable where solid wood can’t go, including finished basements.
  • Kitchens and casual living — water-resistant construction handles everyday spills and foot traffic in busy zones (though it is not for standing water or full baths).
  • Long-term homes — the 4mm veneer allows 2–3 future refinishes, so the floor can be renewed over decades rather than replaced.
  • Light commercial spaces — boutiques, studios, and offices are covered by the 3-Year Light Commercial warranty.

Choosing a color from the Artist Collection

In a bright, north-facing or naturally lit room, the light beige and medium-beige tones keep things airy and make the space feel larger, while the honey/golden option adds warmth and depth to rooms that get less daylight or that pair with white and cool-grey cabinetry. Because Artist planks carry more figure — knots, burl, and mineral streak — it helps to picture the whole floor, not just one board: the character reads best across a larger, open expanse. Order or view a sample in person at our Santa Clara showroom and lay it in your own light next to your cabinets and trim before committing, since oak tone shifts noticeably between daylight and warm indoor lighting.

Frequently asked questions about the Artist Collection

Is the Artist Collection waterproof?
No. The Artist Collection is real engineered European Oak and is water-resistant, not waterproof. It handles everyday spills, humidity, and foot traffic when wiped up promptly, but it should not be used in areas with standing water or continuous wet exposure, such as full bathrooms or laundry pans.
Can the Artist Collection be refinished?
Yes. Because each plank has a 4mm real-wood European Oak veneer, the Artist Collection can typically be sanded and refinished 2–3 times over its life. That lets you renew the surface or change the finish years down the road rather than replacing the floor.
How is the Artist Collection installed?
The Tongue & Groove planks can be nailed, glued, or floated, and are approved for above-grade, on-grade, and below-grade installation. The right method depends on your subfloor — nail-down over wood subfloors, glue-down over concrete, or a floating floor over a suitable underlayment. Below-grade and concrete installs require a proper moisture check and barrier.
How much does one carton cover, and how many do I need?
Each carton covers 23.31 square feet. To estimate cartons, divide your room’s square footage by 23.31 and round up, then add roughly 7–10% extra for cutting waste — more for diagonal or highly figured layouts where board selection matters. Our showroom team can confirm quantities for your specific room.
Why does the Artist Collection look more varied than other Vellichor lines?
Artist is deliberately the most figured line in the range. The wire-brushed texture and clear UV lacquer are chosen to reveal the oak’s natural character — burl, knots, and mineral streak — rather than hide it. Expect noticeable board-to-board variation, which is the intended hand-crafted look and not a defect.
