Quick Answer

What is Fairweather?

Fairweather is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a light greige shade, with a durable, heavy-traffic wear layer for a low-maintenance, practical finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Unlike engineered hardwood or laminate, surface spills don't soak in, and the rigid core won't cup or buckle. Wipe up spills and pet accidents promptly and don't leave standing water. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Fairweather comes with a 20 mil wear layer — about 0.51 mm — appropriate for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, so you get excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It runs noticeably thicker than the entry-level wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

What 20 mil typically means in real homes: many years of everyday household use without visible wear-through. Fairweather in heavy-traffic zones (kitchen, entry) works hardest and shows the first signs soonest; quieter rooms like bedrooms keep their look longest.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the Fairweather surface shows pronounced tight ribbon striping running the length of each plank, a straight parallel figure with strong variation from board to board. Scattered pin knots and a few small fissures interrupt the striping so it never reads as a flat pattern, and the light greige tone keeps all of that detail visible without high contrast. The result is an active but even face: plenty going on when you look down, calm from standing height.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Fairweather's factory-attached 1.5mm IXPE acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Fairweather carries FloorScore, GREENGUARD certifications, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the bright natural light Fairweather gets, with many windows and strong midday sun, the greige stays light and crisp and the cool-neutral cast reads clearly instead of washing out to white. A north-facing or shaded room pulls it a shade deeper toward soft taupe-grey, but it never turns blue. Fairweather pairs easily with cool tones such as powder blue and slate, and it takes warm accents like brass or camel without a fight. Because the tone is neutral, wall colors from crisp white to concrete grey all sit comfortably above it.

Overview

Fairweather runs a tight ribbon striping down every board, a fine parallel figure broken here and there by a scattered pin knot or a hairline fissure. The undertone sits on the greige side of light grey, cool and neutral rather than blue, so it reads warmer than a stark silver floor. The strength of that figure varies from one board to the next, so no two planks look stamped from the same die. In a mid-century living room the pale greige of Fairweather stays crisp under bright midday light, giving powder-blue chairs and a grey sectional a clean, airy footing. The effect is quiet and contemporary without turning cold.

A cool greige with just enough warmth in the cast to keep a bright room feeling calm, not clinical.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the photographed room Fairweather runs through a mid-century living space lit by a double-height window that looks onto a forest. Powder-blue accent chairs and a grey sectional sit on the pale greige floor, with round nesting tables, ceramic vases, gallery art and a stack of books filling out the mid-century styling against concrete-grey walls. The light floor keeps the whole scene bright and open, letting the blue furniture and the forest view outside bring the color.
Will it match my cabinets?
Fairweather is a neutral greige, so it works with a wide range of cabinets and trim. In the photo a pale grey stair rail sits right against it and reads as one calm, cohesive family. Cool grey and crisp white cabinets keep the clean contemporary look, while a soft wood-tone cabinet adds warmth without clashing, since the floor leans neutral rather than blue.
Will it still look this bright in a windowless basement?
In a windowless basement or a low-light room, Fairweather reads a little deeper: the light greige shifts toward a soft taupe-grey but stays neutral and never goes murky. Warm overhead lighting brings out the faint warmth in the cast, while cooler bulbs keep it closer to true grey. Either way the pale tone helps a room without daylight feel more open than a dark floor would.
