What is Derwent?

Derwent is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a gentle golden-blonde beige tone, with a durable, heavy-traffic wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Derwent handles pet accidents, water-bowl spills, and tracked-in mud without swelling, as long as they are wiped up promptly. Clean up standing water quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Derwent features a 20 mil wear layer — which works out to 0.51 mm — intended for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, offering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. In everyday use, it's a step up from the standard-duty wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Derwent's 20 mil wear layer and Super Scratch & Stain Shield Tech™ Finish resist scratching and scuffing over years of use. It wipes clean with a vinyl-safe cleaner and a damp mop, and keeps the printed grain reading consistent across the floor.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the Derwent plank is busy in a soft way: the grain flows and swirls rather than running straight, looping into tight figure around small rounded eye knots. Numerous pin knots dot the surface, fine enough that from standing height they read as delicate detail instead of heavy character. Light feathering fills the space between them, and the mild board-to-board variation means no two planks look stamped from the same sheet.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Derwent's factory-attached 1.5mm IXPE acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Derwent carries FloorScore and GREENGUARD certifications, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

In the soft morning daylight this living room gets, Derwent's golden wash comes forward and the beige reads warm rather than pale, closer to light honey than to a flat neutral.
