Quick Answer

What is Caramelo?

Caramelo is a real-wood engineered hardwood floor built around a reddish-brown color, with moderate knots and natural grain variation for a textured, storied look.

Is it waterproof?

Caramelo is real wood, so the honest answer is water-resistant rather than waterproof. Its construction is designed to handle normal seasonal humidity better than solid planks, but standing water left to sit can still damage the wood veneer.

Can it be refinished?

How many times it can be refinished comes down to the real-wood veneer on top. With its 3mm layer, this floor can be professionally sanded and refinished over its life, subject to how much veneer remains and a flooring professional's assessment. Most of the time, though, a buff-and-recoat or a deep clean handles it — save the deeper sand-down for when the floor actually needs it.

How does the wider plank change the room's look?

The extra width -- seven and a half inches, with random lengths up to six feet -- gives the grain more room to move within a single board than a narrower plank would: straight, orderly runs open into dramatic cathedral arches, with ribbon-stripe banding catching the light across several boards. A handful of boards show the collection's more expressive side -- a bold, swirling bullseye figure and a large knot, plus scattered smaller character flecks, all within the range this Clear-to-Select grade allows. The brushed, UV-cured oil finish keeps the texture tactile underfoot.

Will this color work in my room?

Caramelo's reddish-brown runs warm with golden amber undertones, so it keeps its richness even in rooms that don't get much daylight — the warmth comes from the wood tone itself, not from sunlight bouncing off it. In a bright, window-lit room it opens up and reads a touch lighter; in a room with more shade or artificial light, it deepens and reads more saturated. It pairs cleanly with neutral or warm-toned wall colors, and works well as the warm counterpoint in a room built around cooler furnishings.

Overview

At seven and a half inches wide, each Caramelo plank covers more floor with fewer seams than a narrower format would — a wide board reads as a calm, continuous field instead of a busy grid of joints. The color runs a deep reddish-brown with golden amber highlights, warm enough to read as a strong statement tone without going flat or one-note. Grain moves between straight, orderly runs and dramatic cathedral arches, with ribbon-stripe figure and occasional bold character marks worked into the mix, all within the natural range this Clear-to-Select grade allows. The real Sapele veneer is why no two boards read quite the same. It suits living rooms, dining rooms, and other main living spaces where you want real warmth underfoot and don't mind a floor that shows its own natural variation — a heavier, more saturated tone like this pairs best with a room that can take some visual weight. Right for someone who wants a wide-format plank with a calm, low-seam field and genuine wood-grain movement — if you'd prefer more seam lines and a busier rhythm, a narrower-format layout in this same warm color is the smarter pick.

A wide-format Sapele floor with a calm, continuous rhythm and real grain character in every board.

Frequently asked questions

Will it match my cabinets?
Caramelo's deep reddish-brown pairs cleanly with light or white cabinetry, where the contrast lets the floor read as the room's warm focal point instead of competing with the cabinets for attention. Against medium wood-tone cabinets, keep both in the same warm family — pairing this floor with a cooler, gray-toned cabinet will fight rather than complement, since the undertones pull in opposite directions. Dark cabinetry works too, but expect the room to read heavier overall, so balance it with lighter walls or trim.
