Summit Collection — 8.5mm Waterproof SPC Vinyl Plank (Vellichor Floors)

The Summit Collection is Vellichor Floors’ premium 8.5mm SPC line — the thickest, most substantial plank in the range, and the only one offered in a herringbone format. Each board is a printed wood-look surface over a 100% waterproof, zero-formaldehyde stone-polymer core, topped with a 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer and a pre-attached 1.5mm IXPE acoustic pad. Kapriz carries seven Summit floors — six colors from whitewashed cream to weathered grey, with Shasta also in a herringbone format — all available to order through our Santa Clara showroom.

Colors in the Summit Collection

Summit spans the line’s widest character. Shasta is a soft whitewashed cream available in both straight plank and herringbone; Ossa and the medium greiges (Denali, Rainier) read warm and calm; K2 leans into a light brown; and Torbert is a weathered medium grey warmed by a taupe undertone for a more dramatic, reclaimed look. With the thickest plank in the range, Summit suits the floors you want to feel substantial underfoot.

Best uses for Summit

  • Statement floors & entryways — the thickest 8.5mm plank and the herringbone option make a first impression.
  • Living & great rooms — the substantial gauge gives a solid, premium feel underfoot in the rooms you use most.
  • Kitchens & bathrooms — the 100% waterproof core handles spills, splashes, and humidity.
  • Pet & high-traffic homes — the 20 mil wear layer resists scratches and scuffs.
  • Basements — rated for below-grade installation over prepared concrete.

Choosing a color from the Summit Collection

For a bright, airy room choose Shasta’s whitewashed cream or the light beige of Ossa; for warmth underfoot, the medium greiges (Denali, Rainier) or K2’s light brown; and for a bolder, more contemporary floor, Torbert’s weathered grey. If you want pattern as well as color, Shasta is available in herringbone. Colors and the herringbone layout both read differently by room and light, so see a sample in person at our Santa Clara showroom, where the team can also cross-check dye lots across cartons.

Frequently asked questions about the Summit Collection

What does the 8.5mm thickness get me over the thinner collections?
A more substantial, solid feel underfoot and a little more forgiveness over minor subfloor variation. All three Vellichor collections share the same 100% waterproof core, 20 mil wear layer, and certifications, so the durability spec is the same — Summit simply sits at the premium end of plank gauge and is the only line offered in herringbone.
How is the herringbone format different to install?
The herringbone option uses smaller 5 in × 25 in boards laid in a left/right pattern, so layout and planning take more care than straight planks, and the acclimation step differs by format. The click-lock system and waterproof core are the same; budget extra time for setting out the pattern.
Is Summit waterproof enough for a full bathroom?
Yes — the SPC core is 100% waterproof and will not swell or warp from splashes, humidity, or mop water. Wipe up standing water promptly and follow standard perimeter sealing in full bathrooms.
How many boxes of Summit do I need?
Each straight-plank carton covers 18.7 sq ft (the 5 in × 25 in herringbone carton covers 8.41 sq ft). Divide your room’s square footage by the matching carton figure and add about 10% for cuts and waste — more for a herringbone layout, which generates extra offcuts. Our showroom team can confirm the carton count for your room and pattern.
Can I install Summit myself?
The straight 9 in × 60 in plank uses a glueless click-lock floating system a confident DIYer can handle with a tapping block over a flat, prepared subfloor; leave a 5/16 in (8.2 mm) expansion gap at the walls. The herringbone format is more demanding to set out — many homeowners have it professionally installed.
