Great Oregon Oak Collection — 8mm Waterproof SPC (Republic Floor)

The Great Oregon Oak Collection is Republic Floor’s oak-look SPC series, built as a genuinely waterproof floor for the moisture-prone rooms a real wood floor can’t handle. Each plank pairs an 8mm stone polymer core with a 20 mil wear layer and a 1.5mm attached acoustic EVA underlayment, so no separate pad purchase is needed. Planks click together with an angle-drop locking system in a 9″ x 60″ format and install above, on, or below grade, backed by a 25-Year Residential / 10-Year Commercial warranty and FloorScore certification for indoor air quality. Five oak-toned colors span medium brown through light brown into a medium grey, and every color is available to order through our Santa Clara showroom.

Colors in the Great Oregon Oak Collection

The five colors — Chestnut Oak, Gray Oak, Harvard Oak, Sahara Pental, and Southern Oak — group into three families: medium brown, light brown, and a medium grey. The medium and light brown tones read as classic oak and suit both traditional and transitional rooms, while the grey option gives a cooler, more contemporary base for open-concept spaces. Together the range covers bright, light-filled rooms through warmer, cozier ones without leaving the oak-toned palette this collection is built around.

Best uses for Great Oregon Oak Collection

  • Kitchens & bathrooms — the 100% waterproof SPC core handles spills, splashes, and humidity with no material risk.
  • Basements & below-grade rooms — rated for above, on, or below grade installation over concrete with a moisture barrier.
  • Pet households — the rigid SPC core and 20 mil wear layer stand up to claws and everyday wear.
  • High-traffic hallways & living areas — the dense stone-polymer core holds up under heavy daily foot traffic.
  • Open-concept spaces — 9″ x 60″ planks run long, uninterrupted sightlines between connected rooms.
  • Homes with radiant heat — compatible with hydronic and embedded radiant systems, surface temperature at or below 85°F.

Choosing a color from the Great Oregon Oak Collection

With three color families — medium brown, light brown, and medium grey — this collection works across both traditional and contemporary rooms. Lighter tones such as Southern Oak and Sahara Pental open up smaller or north-facing spaces and pair easily with light cabinetry, while deeper colors like Harvard Oak and Chestnut Oak add warmth and hide everyday scuffs in busier rooms. SPC color and sheen can read differently under LED versus natural light, so bring a sample home or view a full board at our Santa Clara showroom before you order.

Frequently asked questions about the Great Oregon Oak Collection

Is the Great Oregon Oak Collection waterproof?
Yes. The 8mm SPC (Stone Polymer Core) construction is genuinely waterproof with no time limit, unlike engineered or solid wood — it can be installed in kitchens, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone rooms.
Can I install it over radiant heat?
Yes. This SPC is compatible with hydronic and embedded radiant heat systems as long as the floor’s surface temperature stays at or below 85°F.
Can I install this floor myself?
Yes. Planks are a floating angle-drop click-lock system with no glue or nails — start left to right and stagger end joints at least 6″ for a natural layout.
What subfloor prep does this collection need?
The subfloor must be clean, dry, and flat within 3/16″ over 10 ft; over concrete, install a 6-mil moisture/vapor barrier before laying the planks. A pre-attached pad is built in, so no separate underlayment is needed.
How many cartons do I need for my room?
Each carton covers 37.4 square feet — the highest carton coverage of any collection in the Republic Floor lineup at Kapriz, roughly double the ~20-26 sq ft typical elsewhere, so a room needs fewer cartons. Measure your room’s square footage, add about 10% for cuts and waste, and our Santa Clara showroom team can help you finalize the order.
