Quick Answer
What is Monza?
Monza is a genuine engineered hardwood floor in a warm greige base shade, with a few small knots and gentle color variation for an earthy, grounded feel.
Is it waterproof?
Engineered hardwood isn't waterproof. Where it beats solid wood is stability — the cross-layered core moves far less with moisture, so it may be approved for rooms and subfloors solid wood isn't — confirm the manufacturer's installation requirements. Prompt spill cleanup keeps it looking its best.
Can it be refinished?
Two different things: a light, compatible recoat can often refresh the finish without touching the veneer at all, while a full sanding is limited by the real wood on top. With a 3mm veneer, this floor has enough veneer to support real, professional refinishing down the road. Day to day, a lighter touch — a buff-and-recoat or a deep clean — usually does the job; a flooring professional can confirm exactly how much sanding room this veneer leaves.
What does the plank surface look like?
Up close, the grain moves in broad, open arcs — closer to cathedral figure than a tight, straight-line pattern — and it varies noticeably from board to board. That variation is the Character grade at work: real European Oak veneer left with its natural mineral streaking intact, so several boards carry long vertical marks, and a small dark knot shows up now and then instead of being sorted out before it reaches the box. No two boards read exactly the same, which is what a true Character grade is meant to deliver: real wood's natural face, not a filtered, uniform look.
Will this color work in my room?
Monza's greige stays close to true neutral — not clearly gray, not clearly beige — with just enough blush warmth underneath to keep it from feeling cold. That middle ground makes it easy to build a room around: it won't fight with cooler white trim or warmer cream walls, and it works equally well as a quiet backdrop or a light element in a darker-toned room. In brighter, sun-filled spaces the blush comes forward a little; in rooms with less daylight it shifts into a slightly cooler, more gray read. Either way it stays calm rather than becoming the loudest thing in the room.

Overview
Character grade gives Monza room to show its natural marks instead of hiding them: long mineral streaking travels down several boards, and a small, dark knot breaks the surface here and there, set against an open cathedral grain that flows in long, sweeping arcs rather than tight repeats. The blush undertone under that greige base keeps the color from reading flat or cold. At 9-1/2 inches wide, each board carries enough face for that grain and streaking to actually read, rather than disappearing into a narrow strip. It's a calm, neutral floor suited to living rooms, bedrooms, and open-concept main living areas where you want a light base that still has real texture and movement to it. This floor suits someone who wants the natural mineral streaking and small knots that come with true Character-grade oak — if you're after a cleaner, more uniform grain with fewer marks, a lower-character grade fits that better.
Character grade means real mineral streaking and real knots — Monza doesn't hide what makes each board different.
