Quick Answer

What is Seine?

Seine is a genuine engineered hardwood floor in a soft grey washed shade, with a natural hardwood grain for a relaxed, homey feel.

Is it waterproof?

Not waterproof — but more forgiving than solid wood. The stable core lets engineered floors live over concrete and below grade where solid can't go, while the wood surface still asks that you clean up spills and keep the room's humidity reasonable.

Can it be refinished?

Two different things: the finish can be refreshed with a light recoat no matter how much veneer is left, while a full sanding is limited by the real wood on top. With a 4mm veneer, this floor can usually take two or three professional refinishes.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the boards are calm and even, with long straight passages of grain and a soft cathedral figure that never gets busy. Knots are sparse and pin-sized, joined by a few faint fissures, so the character stays subtle and the floor reads quiet. The wire-brushed European Oak surface shows a low, raked relief that catches the light along each board. Because these are real oak boards, no two planks share the same grain, and the figure drifts and changes across the floor.

Will this color work in my room?

Seine reads as a clean, soft grey in the bright daylight of the photographed kitchen, where the warm taupe undertone keeps it from turning flat or steely. Under the warm pendant lights it picks up a little more warmth toward evening, sliding closer to a gentle greige. Against warm greige walls it keeps its neutral character and works as a quiet backdrop instead of a statement. In a darker, north-facing room the same floor deepens slightly and leans greige, which keeps a low-light space feeling calm rather than cold.

Overview

A faint warm taupe runs through it, so Seine reads softer and less cold than a true steel grey. Its European Oak grain moves in long even passages with a quiet cathedral figure, calm from board to board apart from the occasional pin knot. The surface is wire-brushed, which gives the pale color a lightly raked texture instead of a flat, painted look. Because the 4mm wear layer is sawn from real oak, the grain is real timber and varies naturally plank to plank rather than repeating. In the photographed kitchen the floor runs bright and open under daylight and warm pendants, linking white perimeter cabinets to a grey island. It suits a kitchen or open living space where you want a light, restful floor that stays neutral rather than reading warm or cool.

A soft, taupe-touched light grey in genuine wire-brushed oak, a calm neutral for a bright, open kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the photographed kitchen, Seine runs across an open floor built around a large central island, with perimeter cabinetry and a bar-seating area along one side. White cabinets and white countertops keep the room bright, while the island picks up the floor's cooler side and a trio of glass globe pendants hangs above it. Stainless appliances and the warm pendant glow give the transitional space a modern, put-together feel. The pale floor spreads the daylight around and makes the kitchen read larger, with the wide oak boards drawing the eye the length of the room.
Will it match my cabinets?
Seine is one of the easiest floors to match cabinets to, because its neutral light grey works with warm and cool tones alike. In the photographed kitchen it runs against white perimeter cabinets and a grey island, and it works with both without competing. White or off-white cabinets keep everything light and airy, while a greige island or vanity ties directly to the floor's own undertone. If you prefer contrast, deep navy or charcoal cabinets read crisp and modern against the pale boards, and warm wood-tone cabinetry brings out the faint taupe in the floor.
