Quick Answer

What is Valley Oak?

Valley Oak is a waterproof, wood-look SPC floor in a muted greige-taupe shade, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. A splash at the sink or a dropped glass wipes up without harming Valley Oak when cleaned promptly; don't leave water standing. Indoor use only — outdoor installation is not approved.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The plank features a 20 mil wear layer — about 0.51 mm — designed for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, with excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It runs noticeably thicker than the entry-level wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Valley Oak has a 20 mil protective layer — thicker than the thin wear layers on entry-level LVT. That's the physical protective film above the print, sealed by finish.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, Valley Oak shows a sweeping cathedral grain that arcs down the center of each board. Open knots with dark centers and long splits scatter heavily across the face, joined by pronounced mineral fissures and printed character marks. It is a high-character look, busier and more rustic than a clean, uniform tan.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The 1.5mm Bio Guard anti-bacterial EVA acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Valley Oak is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

As a warm medium greige, Valley Oak stays neutral enough to pair with white or greige walls and warm wood-tone furniture. Under bright daylight the taupe lifts a little cooler and sandier; under evening lamplight it deepens toward a warmer brown. Either way the earthy base keeps it from feeling stark, so it works in both sunny and shaded rooms.

Overview

Valley Oak runs a muted taupe-greige from board to board, warm enough to read earthy without tipping orange or pink. Open knots with dark centers and long splits interrupt the sweeping cathedral grain, while pronounced mineral fissures and heavy character marks give each wide plank real personality. The wood-look surface wears well under daily traffic, so Valley Oak suits busy kitchens, entryways, and open living rooms that can carry a rugged, lived-in floor.

Open knots and long splits give Valley Oak a rugged, lived-in look you notice from the doorway.

Frequently asked questions

Will it match my cabinets?
Muted taupe greige defines Valley Oak, and that grey-brown balance makes it one of the most flexible floors for cabinet pairing. Cool greys and soft whites feel crisp and current, while greige and warm wood-tone cabinets bring quiet warmth. Against darker cabinets in charcoal or slate, this taupe base stands on its own with easy contrast.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Valley Oak is a muted taupe greige with soft brown grain, a mid-tone that leans cool, so in dim light it can flatten if you let it. Pair it with warm-toned lamps and that layered lighting draws out the brown warmth, keeping a basement grounded and calm rather than grey. It sits light enough to still reflect some glow and hold a room open. Under good warm light this floor reads as a soft, sophisticated neutral that eases a windowless space nicely.
