Quick Answer

What is Obsidian Oak?

Obsidian Oak is a waterproof, wood-look WPC floor in a deep greyed brown tone, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Kitchen reality — dropped pots, splashes, and daily mop-and-go cleaning — won't faze the planks, as long as you wipe spills up promptly and dry any standing water. Not approved for outdoor installation; test the subfloor for moisture before installing.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The flooring uses a 22 mil wear layer — equal to about 0.56 mm — suited to heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, so you get excellent long-term durability. It sits at the thicker, harder-wearing end of the range.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Dog nails, cat claws, litter grit, water-bowl splash — Obsidian Oak's 22 mil wear layer and finish resist the scratches and scuffs a pet household puts on a floor, whereas a thinner LVT wear layer marks more easily.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, the plank surface shows an open, flowing grain with tall cathedral peaks that rise and taper along each board. Mineral streaking runs the full board length, and scattered small knots and fine fissures add the natural marks that give Obsidian Oak its rustic read. The graining varies enough board to board to look genuine underfoot, so a finished floor never falls into an obvious repeat.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The attached acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Obsidian Oak is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Obsidian Oak carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the natural side light of an afternoon, the warmth in Obsidian Oak lifts while the cool grey underneath stays visible, so the color reads balanced rather than heavy. Away from the window it deepens toward a moodier greyed brown. That give-and-take makes Obsidian Oak easy to pair: it sits comfortably with warm white walls, cream upholstery, and a terracotta accent without fighting any of them.

Overview

What sets Obsidian Oak apart is the cool weathered cast running through its deep greyed brown, which reads quieter and more sophisticated than a plain mid-brown. Tall cathedral figure sweeps down each board, cut by long straight fissures and the odd small knot, so the plank keeps a rustic character without looking busy. Set in a modern warm minimalist living room, Obsidian Oak works as a calm base for cream seating, terracotta accents, and a walnut media wall. Obsidian Oak brings that lived-in look to an open-plan space, and its WPC rigid core keeps it fully waterproof against topical moisture.

A deep greyed brown with a weathered depth, Obsidian Oak brings rustic cathedral grain to a refined open-plan living room.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the photographed living room, Obsidian Oak runs under a low sectional sofa, a media console, and a pair of accent chairs, with a coffee table at the center. A walnut media wall and a piece of abstract art keep the eye on one side, while an arc floor lamp and a single potted plant fill out the corner. Against warm white walls, the deep greyed brown of Obsidian Oak keeps the modern, uncluttered room feeling warm rather than stark.
Will it match my cabinets?
The room pairs Obsidian Oak with a walnut media wall, and the two sit together well, since the floor's cooler greyed brown keeps the richer walnut from reading too heavy. It also takes warm wood-tone cabinets, cream painted fronts, or a deeper espresso if you want more contrast.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Obsidian Oak has enough natural warmth in its brown to handle a windowless basement without going flat. Under warm artificial light the greyed undertones recede and the color reads a touch deeper and cozier; under cooler LED light the weathered grey shows more. Because it is 100% waterproof against topical moisture and built on a WPC rigid core, Obsidian Oak is a practical pick for a below-grade room.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
The room keeps it simple with a single potted plant near the arc lamp, and that one shot of green looks right against the warm greyed brown of Obsidian Oak. Greenery reads well here: a large leafy plant or a few smaller pots would echo the natural, lived-in feel of the floor without clashing with its cooler undertones.
