Quick Answer

What is Mountain Tan?

Mountain Tan is a wood-look SPC floor in a reddish medium brown tone, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. The rigid core stands up to everyday surface water — spills, mop water, pet accidents — without swelling or delaminating when wiped up promptly. It won't substitute for fixing a standing leak; dry the floor and the source quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation; keep the subfloor dry before and during install.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Mountain Tan features a 20 mil wear layer — which works out to 0.51 mm — ideal for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, with excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. It runs noticeably thicker than the entry-level wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Minor scratches on Mountain Tan stay low-visibility — faint surface marks rather than the bright white scuff lines a glossy floor shows. The 20 mil wear layer hides minor wear within the printed grain pattern, so day-to-day marks blend in rather than standing out.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, each plank is defined by big cathedral arches -- long, sweeping peaks of grain that flow down the center with real movement. Small pin knots scatter across the face at a moderate spacing, and dark mineral streaks run alongside the grain lines for added character. Board to board the figure shifts, so no two planks of Mountain Tan look stamped from the same pattern.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The 1.5mm Bio Guard anti-bacterial EVA acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Mountain Tan is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

Under cool overhead light with no direct window sun, Mountain Tan deepens and its reddish amber warmth comes forward, reading rich rather than washed out. In a bright, south-facing room the same floor lifts and the amber turns more golden, while in an evening or low-light space it reads deeper and more saturated. That warm undertone makes it a good fit for cooler or north-facing rooms that need some heat in the floor.

Overview

Bold cathedral arches sweep the full length of each Mountain Tan plank, a pronounced flowing figure broken by scattered small pin knots and dark mineral streaks along the grain. The color underneath is a warm reddish brown with amber undertones that give it real depth -- medium in tone but far from flat. In a living room it reads sleek and a little dramatic, with enough presence to work under strong, modern furnishings.

A warm reddish brown with amber depth and bold, sweeping grain -- Mountain Tan brings quiet drama underfoot.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Installed, Mountain Tan sets a warm, dramatic base in a modern industrial living room. A white curved sofa and violet accent chairs sit against board-formed concrete walls, with a glossy black oval coffee table, purple pillows, dark vases, and glass barware completing the scene. The reddish-brown floor warms all that cool concrete and hard-edged furniture, tying the bold accent pieces to something richer underfoot.
Will it match my cabinets?
Mountain Tan pairs cleanly with a wide range of cabinets. Its reddish-brown warmth sits well next to crisp white or off-white cabinetry, and it works with black or charcoal for a bold, modern contrast. Against warmer wood-tone cabinets, keep them a clear shade lighter or darker so the two read as a deliberate pair rather than a near-miss.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Mountain Tan is a strong pick for a windowless basement or a low-light room. Its medium tone and warm amber undertone keep it from going dull or cold where many darker floors would flatten out, and under lamplight or cool overhead fixtures the reddish depth reads warm and inviting. If the space is genuinely dark, pair it with lighter walls and furnishings to keep the overall room feeling open.
