Quick Answer

What is Biscayne Oak?

Biscayne Oak is a rigid, wood-look SPC floor in a rich chocolate-brown tone, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a low-maintenance, practical space.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. The stone-polymer core stands up to everyday surface water — spills, mop water, pet accidents — without swelling or delaminating when wiped up promptly. It won't substitute for fixing a standing leak; dry the floor and the source quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation; keep the subfloor dry before and during install.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The plank features a 20 mil wear layer — equivalent to 0.50 mm — ideal for heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, with excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. That's a step above the standard-duty wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Minor scratches on Biscayne Oak stay low-visibility — faint surface marks rather than the bright white scuff lines a glossy floor shows. The 20 mil wear layer hides minor wear within the printed grain pattern — low visibility, not just high durability.

What does the plank surface look like?

Each Biscayne Oak plank shows clean, lengthwise grain lines with a very even figure and subtle shifts from board to board, no knots and no busy character marks. The wood-look print sits beneath a 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer, the working surface you actually walk on, and an attached cork underlayment comes pre-bonded under every plank. The result is a dark floor that looks tailored rather than rustic.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The cork acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Biscayne Oak is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Biscayne Oak carries GREENGUARD Gold certification, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

A deep espresso like Biscayne Oak works best where you want contrast and intimacy. It frames pale walls, brick, and warm metals, and it makes a small lounge or study feel enclosed in the good sense. Because the shade is dark, pair it with enough light and lighter furnishings so the room does not go heavy; against cream, rust, or aged leather it looks rich rather than flat. It leans warm, so it sits comfortably next to brass and cognac tones.

Overview

Biscayne Oak is a deep espresso brown, a near-chocolate shade (hex #5c3e2f) with real warmth under the darkness. Its grain runs tight and straight, with a very even figure and no knots to break it up, so the boards read clean and continuous from wall to wall. We saw it in an industrial loft lounge, where the dark tone met exposed red brick and a cognac leather loveseat, the kind of low-lit, intimate setting it suits best, alongside a home library or a moody den. Under each plank sits a rigid SPC (stone-polymer composite) core that is fully waterproof, so Biscayne Oak stays put in kitchens, baths, and basements where moisture would rule out other floors.

A deep espresso floor with quiet, uniform grain: drama without the busywork, built on a waterproof stone-polymer core.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
In the loft we photographed, Biscayne Oak ran wall to wall under a tufted cognac loveseat and a black metal etagere, with afternoon light coming in from the side and exposed red brick behind. The dark espresso floor made the space feel close and lived-in, and its quiet, uniform grain kept the eye on the furniture rather than the floor. Installed across a real room, it reads even and continuous, with just enough board-to-board shift to look natural underfoot.
Will it match my cabinets?
A deep espresso floor like Biscayne Oak is flexible with cabinetry as long as you mind the contrast. Against white or cream cabinets it gives you a strong dark-and-light look; against mid-tone wood-tone fronts it reads tonal and warm. In the loft the nearest casework was a black metal shelf frame, which disappeared into the floor's depth, a reminder that very dark or very pale cabinets both work, while a near-match mid-brown can look muddy. If you want the floor to stand out, go lighter above it.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Because its core is fully waterproof, Biscayne Oak is rated for below-grade rooms, so a windowless basement is fair game. A dark espresso does drink up light, though, so plan on layered, warm artificial lighting down there, wall sconces and lamps rather than one cool overhead, to keep the floor from going flat. In a basement family room or media den, that depth actually helps, making the space feel snug; just keep the walls and ceiling light to balance it.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Indoor plants look great against a dark espresso like Biscayne Oak, since green foliage pops against the deep brown. The floor's waterproof surface shrugs off the odd watering splash, but set planters on a non-staining saucer or tray rather than a rubber-backed mat, since rubber and latex backing can discolor the surface over time. Wipe up overflow when you water and the floor stays as clean as the day it went down.
