The skeleton core is the central rigid layer in the Black Series eSPC build. The result is a 10mm plank that feels denser and more solid underfoot than conventional single-layer SPC — closer to the underfoot feel of engineered hardwood.

What is Touch of Nature texture, and how is it different from EIR?

Touch of Nature is Gaia’s proprietary multilayer Embossed-in-Register process. Standard EIR aligns one layer of texture with the printed grain. Touch of Nature aligns multiple texture layers, producing micro-depth that reads more like sawn wood up close — the grain isn’t a single embossed channel, it has plane-to-plane variation. Bring a phone to the showroom and photograph the surface; the difference shows clearly on screen at standard viewing distance.

Is the IIC 73 acoustic rating meaningful in upper-floor installations?

Yes. IIC measures impact noise transmitted through the floor and ceiling assembly to the room below. Are the 70-inch planks harder to install than shorter formats?

Slightly. Long planks demand a flatter subfloor — Gaia specifies 3/16 inch over 10 feet flatness, which is standard for SPC but more critical when the plank length is longer. The Valinge 5G drop-click is the same as the Red Series, so the click mechanics aren’t more difficult. Most homeowners can install a long-plank Black Series project as a DIY project; Kapriz can refer a licensed C-15 contractor if you prefer professional installation.
