eTerra Black Series — 10mm Advanced eSPC Vinyl Plank

The eTerra Black Series is the flagship of Gaia Floor’s eTerra line — a 10mm advanced eSPC plank built around a rigid skeleton core with refining layers and enhanced sound-deadening construction. Six colors anchor this collection, all in an extra-long 70.87-inch by 9.05-inch plank format. The Black Series carries Gaia’s proprietary Touch of Nature multilayer Embossed-in-Register texture, the most realistic surface in the eTerra line.

6 colors in this collection. All eTerra products are 100% waterproof, FloorScore certified, GreenGuard Gold certified, and backed by a 50-Year Residential / 10-Year Commercial Limited warranty.

Best for

The Black Series is built for premium installations where the floor is part of the design statement:

How this tier compares to the rest of the eTerra line

The White Series and Red Series both deliver waterproof eTerra performance at lower price points. The Black Series steps up the construction in three specific ways: a 10mm thickness with a dedicated skeleton core for hardwood-like underfoot density, the highest acoustic rating in the eTerra line (IIC 73 / STC 72), and Gaia’s proprietary Touch of Nature multilayer EIR texture. Choose the Black Series when those three differences justify the premium — typically in master bedrooms, great rooms, and other spaces where the floor is meant to be experienced underfoot, not just walked on.

Frequently asked questions

What does the skeleton core construction do?

The skeleton core is the central rigid layer in the Black Series eSPC build. It carries the structural load of the plank while refining layers above and balancing layers below add dimensional stability. The result is a 10mm plank that feels denser and more solid underfoot than conventional single-layer SPC — closer to the underfoot feel of engineered hardwood.

What is Touch of Nature texture, and how is it different from EIR?

Touch of Nature is Gaia’s proprietary multilayer Embossed-in-Register process. Standard EIR aligns one layer of texture with the printed grain. Touch of Nature aligns multiple texture layers, producing micro-depth that reads more like sawn wood up close — the grain isn’t a single embossed channel, it has plane-to-plane variation. Bring a phone to the showroom and photograph the surface; the difference shows clearly on screen at standard viewing distance.

Is the IIC 73 acoustic rating meaningful in upper-floor installations?

Yes. IIC measures impact noise transmitted through the floor and ceiling assembly to the room below. A rating of 73 — versus the 72 of White and Red Series — means measurably less footfall and chair-scrape transmission. In multi-level homes, condos, and townhomes where a quiet living room or bedroom sits below the install zone, that single-point IIC improvement is audible to the room below over the life of the floor.

Are the 70-inch planks harder to install than shorter formats?

Slightly. Long planks demand a flatter subfloor — Gaia specifies 3/16 inch over 10 feet flatness, which is standard for SPC but more critical when the plank length is longer. The Valinge 5G drop-click is the same as the Red Series, so the click mechanics aren’t more difficult. Most homeowners can install a long-plank Black Series project as a DIY project; Kapriz can refer a licensed C-15 contractor if you prefer professional installation.

Can I see the Black Series in person before ordering?

Yes. Kapriz keeps Black Series samples on display at the Santa Clara showroom (891 Laurelwood Rd, Suite 101). Call (408) 753-3220 ahead to confirm which specific colors are physically on hand — we don’t permanently stock every color in the eTerra line, and a quick call saves a wasted trip if the color you want needs to be ordered in for review.
