Quick Answer

What is Bear Oak?

Bear Oak is a rigid, wood-look SPC floor in a mid-brown shade, with a thick, high-traffic wear layer for a simple, carefree finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. The rigid core stands up to everyday surface water — spills, mop water, pet accidents — without swelling or delaminating when wiped up promptly. It won't substitute for fixing a standing leak; dry the floor and the source quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation; keep the subfloor dry before and during install.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

The top of Bear Oak carries a 20 mil wear layer — about 0.51 mm — well suited to heavy residential use and many light-commercial applications, offering excellent protection against everyday scratches, scuffs, and abrasion. In everyday use, it's a step up from the standard-duty wear layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Minor scratches on Bear Oak stay low-visibility — faint surface marks rather than the bright white scuff lines a glossy floor shows. The 20 mil wear layer hides minor wear within the printed grain pattern, so day-to-day marks blend in rather than standing out.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, Bear Oak runs a sweeping cathedral grain with a quieter figure filling the space between the arches. Its rustic character comes from open knots with dark centers -- medium in size and moderate in number -- plus short mineral fissures threading between them. Because the tan-and-brown blend shifts from one board to the next, the printed surface keeps a natural, board-to-board variety rather than a repeating look.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The 1.5mm Bio Guard anti-bacterial EVA acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. Bear Oak is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

Bear Oak reads as a versatile warm mid-brown that leans neither orange nor grey, so it works alongside warm and cool decor alike. In bright daylight the tan passages lift and the overall tone reads lighter and more open; under warm evening lamps Bear Oak deepens toward a richer cocoa-brown. That range makes it easy to live with whether your room faces the morning sun or stays shaded through the day.

Overview

Bear Oak layers a warm mid-brown base with lighter tan passages, so each board reads with more depth and movement than a flat brown. Open knots with dark centers and a few short mineral fissures give it an honest rustic face, while the sweeping grain stays calm in between. Bear Oak comes as a floating click-lock plank that stands up to the daily wear of a busy household -- foot traffic, spills, and pet claws. That warm, forgiving character makes it a natural pick for high-traffic kitchens, entryways, mudrooms, and family rooms where a floor needs to hide everyday scuffs.

A warm, tan-blended brown with honest open knots -- rustic character that hides the scuffs of a busy house.

Frequently asked questions

Will it match my cabinets?
Bear Oak's warm mid-brown with tan blending and darker grain lines gives you a rich, grounded backdrop that pairs beautifully with cream and off-white cabinets for a warm, welcoming contrast. Soft greige also eases in nicely without competing. For a bolder look, deep navy or forest-toned cabinets play well against this brown's warmth.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
Bear Oak is a warm mid-brown with tan blending and darker grain lines, so it drinks in light rather than throwing it back. In a basement or dim room it eases into a cosy, grounded mood with a little quiet drama, which suits a den or media space beautifully. Give it good layered lighting so the deeper grain doesn't read heavy in a windowless corner. Under warm evening bulbs the tan warmth glows and keeps the whole floor feeling inviting.
