Quick Answer

What is New Caledonia?

New Caledonia is a rigid, wood-look SPC floor in a warm light beige tone, with a heavy-duty, high-traffic wear layer for a durable, easy-care finish.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. A splash at the sink or a dropped glass wipes up without harming New Caledonia when cleaned promptly; don't leave water standing. Indoor use only — outdoor installation is not approved.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

New Caledonia comes with a 28 mil wear layer — measuring about 0.71 mm — intended for heavy residential use and many commercial applications, offering outstanding resistance to scratches, scuffs, and long-term abrasion. The extra thickness gives it more long-term wear capacity than thinner layers.

Will it hold up to daily life?

New Caledonia has a 28 mil protective layer — thicker than the thin wear layers on entry-level LVT. That's the physical protective film above the print, sealed by finish.

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close, New Caledonia shows a flowing cathedral figure that loops the length of each board, threaded with open rustic knots that carry small end fissures and fine weathered character marks. Small pin knots fill in around them at a moderate density, modest in scale but enough to read as natural. The printed wood-look surface shifts board to board, so the rustic character never falls into an obvious repeat.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

The EVA acoustic layer damps the hollow "click" sound characteristic of floating floors. New Caledonia is quieter underfoot than LVT with a loose pad — both for the walker and for rooms below in multi-story homes.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the bright midday daylight of a window-filled kitchen, New Caledonia reads clean and luminous, and its golden cast keeps the pale beige from washing out to a cold grey. As the light softens toward evening, the warmth comes forward and the floor deepens to a mellow sand. It pairs easily with crisp whites and cool marble, staying bright and refined rather than yellow.

Overview

A gentle golden cast runs through the light warm beige of New Caledonia, giving a pale floor enough warmth that it never reads cold or chalky. Flowing cathedral grain sweeps a long figure down each board, opened up by rustic knots, small end fissures, and scattered weathered marks that keep the surface from looking machine-uniform. Set into a bright modern-farmhouse kitchen of crisp white cabinets and marble, New Caledonia lays down a soft, refined base while its character marks give the light floor genuine personality.

New Caledonia is a pale, refined beige with golden warmth and enough rustic character to keep a bright white kitchen from feeling plain.

Frequently asked questions

What does it look like installed in a real room?
Installed, New Caledonia runs through a bright modern-farmhouse kitchen built around a marble-topped island and upholstered counter stools in charcoal. Crisp white glass-front cabinets and soft white walls keep the space light, while a brass lantern pendant and patio doors add warmth and let the daylight pour in. Displayed dishware and a single potted plant round out the scene, and the pale golden floor links the cool marble and charcoal stools to the warm brass without competing.
Will it match my cabinets?
New Caledonia is an easy partner for cabinets. With the crisp white glass-front cabinetry shown here, the pale golden beige adds a soft warmth that keeps the white from feeling clinical, and it works just as well with cream or wood-tone fronts. If your cabinets lean cool grey or sage, its golden cast brings a welcome warmth without fighting the color.
How does this color read in a windowless basement?
In a windowless basement or a low-light room, New Caledonia reads a touch deeper and warmer, with its golden cast keeping the beige from going flat where daylight would normally lift it. Warm-toned bulbs keep the color true, while very cool bulbs can leave it looking washed out. It stays bright and inviting in a finished basement, media room, or guest suite.
Does this floor work with indoor plants?
Yes. New Caledonia's warm golden beige makes a natural backdrop for indoor greenery, letting the deep green of a statement potted plant stand out against the pale floor. Its light tone brightens the space around foliage rather than swallowing it, so a single large plant or a cluster of smaller ones both read well.
