Is it waterproof?

Yes — 100% waterproof. Fossil handles pet accidents, water-bowl spills, and tracked-in mud wiped up promptly without swelling. Clean up standing water quickly. Not approved for outdoor installation.

How durable is it, and what traffic can it take?

Fossil comes with a 12 mil wear layer — approximately 0.30 mm — recommended for everyday residential use across the busy areas of most homes, providing solid everyday scratch and scuff resistance. A middle-of-the-range wear layer that balances durability with value.

Will it hold up to daily life?

Fossil's 12 mil wear layer and finish resist scratching and scuffing over years of use. It wipes clean with a vinyl-safe cleaner and a damp mop, and keeps the printed grain reading consistent across the floor.

What does the plank surface look like?

The Fossil plank is a printed wood-look surface over a rigid, 100% waterproof SPC core, and it is the most characterful of these greys up close. A loose, drifting grain is broken by small tight knots, a long horizontal check, and fine hairline splits -- the marks of weathered timber, printed in rather than sanded away. There is more knot activity here than on a clean straight-grain look, which is exactly what gives Fossil its rustic, farmhouse honesty, while the floor itself stays easy to clean and care for.

There's no separate underlayment to buy and no pad to choose. Fossil's factory-attached 1mm EVA acoustic pad comes bonded to every plank and dampens footfall noise throughout the home — one less material decision and one less install step.
