European Collection — 12.3mm AC4 Laminate (Republic Floor)
The European Collection is Republic Floor’s laminate line at Kapriz Hardwood Floors, engineered as a 12.3mm-thick floating floor over a laminate core with an AC4 wear rating for standard residential and light-commercial traffic. Planks measure 6.5″ x 47.8125″ and join with Republic Floor’s V-Groove angle-drop click-lock system; the line ships without an attached pad, so plan on a separate compatible foam underlayment plus a vapor/moisture barrier over concrete subfloors. As a water-resistant laminate it handles everyday moisture better than traditional laminate, though buyers should check the specific spill and cleanup guidance rather than assume it is waterproof. Four colors — Amsterdam, Helsinki, Milano, and Rome — span grey, medium beige, and medium brown tones, backed by a 25-Year Residential warranty. All four are available to order through our Santa Clara showroom.

Colors in the European Collection
The four European Collection colors — Amsterdam, Helsinki, Milano, and Rome — stay in a tight, coordinated band of medium grey, medium beige, and medium brown, so none of the four reads as a stark outlier next to the others. That makes the line easy to pair with either warm or cool cabinetry and trim: the beige and brown tones lean toward a classic, warm floor, while the grey option gives a more neutral, contemporary base. There’s no near-black or near-white extreme in the range — all four sit in a mid-tone family suited to rooms that want warmth without going heavy.
Best uses for European Collection
- Basements and below-grade rooms — rated for above, on, and below-grade installation
- Kitchens and mudrooms — the water-resistant laminate surface tolerates everyday spills and foot traffic better than standard laminate
- Living rooms, hallways, and other high-traffic areas — the AC4 wear rating is built for standard residential and light-commercial use
- Homes with radiant heat — compatible when the floor surface temperature is kept at or below 85 degrees F
- Rental units and light-commercial spaces — a durable click-lock floor that holds up to turnover and everyday wear
Choosing a color from the European Collection
In a bright, north-facing or naturally sunlit room, any of the four colors will read well; in a room with less natural light, Amsterdam or Helsinki’s lighter tones help keep the space from feeling closed in, while Milano or Rome adds warmth and grounds a large, open room. Because laminate color can shift slightly under different lighting, bring your cabinet or trim samples with you and see the actual plank in person at our Santa Clara showroom before you commit to a full order.
