Bear Woods Collection — 12mm AC5 Laminate (Republic Floor)

The Bear Woods Collection is Republic Floor’s wide-plank, wood-look laminate line, built for buyers who want the warmth of a hardwood look without the upkeep of real wood. Each 12mm-total plank carries an AC5-rated wear layer — the heaviest commercial-grade abrasion class for a laminate floor — over a dense laminate core, with V-Groove edges that deepen the plank-to-plank shadow line. Planks join with a V-Groove angle-drop click-lock system, floated over a separate compatible foam underlayment (not pre-attached, not included with the flooring). The line ships in 10 colors spanning blonde, beige, and brown tones plus two grey shades, is rated for up to 300 hours of topical-spill protection — water-resistant, not submersion-proof — and is backed by a 25-Year Residential / 5-Year Commercial warranty. Available to order through our Santa Clara showroom.

Colors in the Bear Woods Collection

The Bear Woods Collection’s 10 colors run from light, sun-washed blondes and beiges (Astoria Gold, Kashmir Beige, Crystal Yellow) through medium browns and tans (Alaska Tan, Siena Beige, Bianco Romano, White Tiger, Prada Sunrise) to two cooler grey tones (Blue Dunes, Himalayan Blue). Lighter shades open up small or low-light rooms and pair well with white or light cabinetry; the medium browns read warm and traditional across open-plan living areas; the greys suit a more contemporary, cool-toned space. Every color shares the same 12mm AC5 wear layer, so the choice comes down to look rather than durability.

Best uses for Bear Woods Collection

  • Kitchens — the 300-hour topical-spill rating and AC5 wear layer handle everyday drips and daily wear when spills are wiped up promptly
  • Living rooms and family rooms — a wide-plank, wood-look surface with a warm, solid feel underfoot for open-plan living
  • Bedrooms and hallways — the AC5 wear rating stands up to the heavy foot traffic of high-use hallways as well as quieter bedroom use
  • Below-grade installs (basements) — the install grade covers above, on, and below grade over a properly flattened subfloor with a 6-mil moisture barrier over concrete
  • Light-commercial spaces — AC5 is the heaviest abrasion class available on a laminate, matched by the 5-Year Commercial warranty term

Choosing a color from the Bear Woods Collection

Bring a cabinet or trim sample to the room the floor is going in: lighter blondes and beiges keep a north-facing or smaller room feeling open, while the medium browns and greys ground a bright, larger space and hide everyday dust better. Because laminate color can shift slightly under different lighting, view a physical sample at our Santa Clara showroom before ordering full cartons — it’s the most reliable way to confirm the tone against your actual walls and cabinetry.

Frequently asked questions about the Bear Woods Collection

Is the Bear Woods Collection waterproof?
It’s water-resistant, not fully waterproof: the collection is rated for up to 300 hours of topical-spill protection, so everyday drips and spills are fine as long as they’re wiped up. It is not intended for standing water or rooms with sustained flooding risk.
Does the Bear Woods Collection come with an attached underlayment pad?
No. This collection does not ship with a pre-attached pad — it requires a separate, compatible foam underlayment installed underneath the floating floor, plus a moisture/vapor barrier over any concrete subfloor.
Can I install this in a basement or below-grade room?
Yes — the collection’s install grade covers above, on, and below grade. Over concrete, test for moisture first, install a moisture/vapor barrier, and make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, and flat before laying the floor.
How many boxes do I need to order?
Each carton covers 23.19 sq ft, with planks measuring 9.25″ × 60″. Measure your room’s square footage and add roughly 10% for cuts and waste, more for diagonal or complex layouts.
Is the Bear Woods Collection a DIY-friendly install?
Yes. It’s a floating floor with a V-Groove angle-drop click-lock system — no glue or nails. Acclimate the planks, run the HVAC for 48 hours beforehand, keep the room between 60-85 degrees F, and leave the required expansion gap at walls and vertical obstructions.
