What is Cool Haven?

Cool Haven is a laminate floor in a blonde shade, a wood-look surface over a high-density core for a simple, carefree finish.

How durable is it — what's the AC rating?

AC stands for Abrasion Class: how well the clear wear layer resists scuffing and foot traffic over time. Cool Haven has an AC4 rating, so its wear grade is measured, not guessed.

How realistic does the wood look?

The best realism comes from embossing that lines up with the print — texture that follows the printed grain, called embossed-in-register. Where a floor uses it, it reads far more like natural wood underfoot and to the eye.

Is it waterproof?

What does the plank surface look like?

Up close the Cool Haven planks show a long, mostly straight grain that runs cleanly from end to end, with soft cathedral figure opening up here and there. The character is light and well spaced: a scattering of small pin knots and short grain flecks, with none of the heavy knotting or dark fissures of a rustic floor. Board to board the figure shifts just enough to read like naturally varied boards rather than one repeated print. It is a quiet, even surface that looks composed from standing height and rewards a closer look.

Quiet enough upstairs or in a condo?

Cool Haven's pre-attached acoustic underlayment cushions footfall and takes the hollow click out of a floating floor, so it stays quieter underfoot — the difference is easiest to hear upstairs or in a condo, and there's no separate pad to buy or roll out. Over a concrete slab, add a 6-mil poly moisture barrier under the floor as well — separate from the acoustic pad — since a floating laminate isn't itself a moisture barrier; that step protects the boards from slab humidity and doesn't change how quiet the floor feels.

Is it safe for indoor air?

Yes — Cool Haven carries FloorScore, GREENGUARD certifications, independently tested for low chemical emissions. That matters most for households with allergies, asthma, or young children.

Will this color work in my room?

Under the room's mix of soft recessed downlight and midday daylight, Cool Haven stays a warm golden blonde without washing out, the daylight lifting its gold while the downlight keeps it even after dark. In a brighter, south-facing space it reads a touch lighter and airier; in a lower-lit corner the gold deepens toward a soft amber.
